GoughNuts Stick Dog Toy

This toy stank of rubber when it came. Both dogs wouldn't get near it. (I didn't want to, either.) I soaked it twice, for a long time, in soapy water, but no improvement. Then I called Chewy and the customer service rep recommended that I try some vinegar and warm water overnight. PROBLEM SOLVED! Now my dogs FIGHT over this toy! YAY!

My 8 1/2 month old, Great Dane, Klaus has been chewing on his GoughNuts stick for a month, now, and I can barely see scratches!!! Klaus is beyond a heavy chewer and has destroyed everything I have bought for him in a matter of hours- days. I have gotten him the “ toughest of tough” chew toys only to have throw them away. But not this one! Yes, it smells strongly like rubber, but so do all the supposed strong rubber chew toys, so I have noticed, Including ones designed to hold treats or fake cheese (yuk,) which I choose not to put in them, (multiple dog household) due to allergies, etc. And, shapes and textures of toys determine whether they are played with or not, at least in my household, My 8 1/2 month old, Great Dane, Klaus has been chewing on his GoughNuts stick for a month, now, and I can barely see scratches!!! This stick is very heavy, and even with Klaus being such a giant already, hilariously, he won’t take it out of my hand. He will fetch it, but mostly, he just wants to sit and chew on it. Fine by me, since he goes at it fully, back teeth, front teeth it doesn’t matter, and he has yet to make a mark in this thing! It took a day or two for him to get past the smell, or maybe even taste of rubber, so I rubbed it in my hands a lot and kept it with his favorite stuffies and played games with it, I.e. pretending it was mine and pretending to chew on it then hiding it behind my back, etc, until he just had to have it. Took no real effort at all and since he started chewing on it, he will chew it until he falls asleep. Now, I can give it to him when he has too much energy, or he’s just driving my other Dane or my Pug crazy wanting to play, when he just wants to get into everything or when he feels like bedtime is playtime and I need him to settle in for the night. Ten minutes with his GoughNuts Stick and he’s out like a light. Then another five minutes of sucking on it in his sleep and I can finally put it away and get some sleep myself. Finally, a chew toy that holds up to the Klaus master chewer, as well as, a being the multi functional solution to the many, Giant breed Puppy, everyday normal, “oh my goodness, help me” too much energy right now, give the other dogs a rest, playful moments!!! My American bulldog/pit bull mix LOVES this toy. She takes it everywhere with her, and chews on it all day long. It bounces really high when you throw it, and she loves to chase it. When I tell you it's a miracle it hasn't been completely shredded yet, I truly mean that. She has destroyed every toy she's ever had except the three Goughnuts she has. The stick is her favorite, though. 10/10!

My Francis is a lab/put mix and 100lbs of love. He has several kong super chewer toys and he loves this (orange) one just as much. He is always sad when I won’t let him bring in his favorite sticks from the yard. And he was so excited to have a “stick” in the house lol We will definitely be buying the other colors for him. He’s the goodest boy and deserves all the toys. Photo: He chewed himself right into a nap. But secures it so his sisters won’t steal his “inside stick” lol

My 7 month lab/Aussie shepherd mix has destroyed almost every toy. This one was recommended and based on the reviews I figured it would work. However, in less than a week Roscoe found the week point and once that happens he just stays in the area. Now he can’t play with anymore because he will just keep eating away until the top is gone

My dog's dentist recommended this chew toy as its not too hard to be chewed on. Unfortunately my dog did not like it which is why I only gave four stars as not really sure how the toy holds up ect. The amazing this is as soon as I told Chewy that, they gave me a refund and had me donate the chew toy to a local shelter. I really appreciated that amazing customer service from Chewy.

My Pitbull destroys every toy within a matter of minutes to include Kong toys. This toy has teeth marks in it but is completely still intact after 10 days. The toy is solid but not too heavy. 100% satisfied!

At the time of this review, I don't believe the item description of the green GoughNut mentions the specific size dog this is for, but I just received the item and noted that the label says "recommended for 40-70lb dogs." It's very big and I can't imagine that this will work for my 10-month-old, 25-pound lab mix (aggressive chewer). I wasn't really sure how to rate this item since we won't be able to use it, but it seems good...just plan to exchange it for a smaller size.

My dog is obsessed with playing fetch and tug with this stick. It is his absolute number one favorite toy. Seems simple but he goes nuts for it any time of day. He is a crazy super chewer, destroys most toys, but thankfully not this stick.

Both of my dogs love to chew and they are not interested in chewing this. I was excited about this product since it is safe for chewing but bummed since neither care for it.
