I have ordered this same brand and flavor several times in the past but this time I got the box delivered opened it up got this package out and noticed a strong smell before even opening the bag. I just assumed the smell was something else. I opened the bag and the smell is SO strong of rotten tuna that I literally had to take the bag out and put in the trash can. I had to use air freshener 2 times to rid the house of the horrible smell. I am not sure what happened with this bag or batch but it was literally rotten.
Pugs never know the pills are inside

Both my black pugs get a children's dose of antihistamine. In addition, my senior pug, Gus, is on Carprofen (generic Rimadyl). And, right now my little 14 pound girl, Chica, is on Baytril for a UTI. I have to set a timer for 12 hours, and when it goes off--whoa, they go ballistic. They really just think it's the duck & pea treat, which they tend to gulp, never realizing there are meds inside! The pockets are very oily (I use nitrile gloves I have for when I cut their raw meat, so I don't get the oil on my hands), and they do have a strong smell. But for me the smell is not awful, and for the pugs, it just makes them want more...more...more! Also, I'm grateful there is no rice. Pill Pockets are Great!

Great price for the Grain Free/Allergy formula pill pockets! As always, Chewy is great and ships very quickly. My vet recommended these for my cat that has allergies. Surprisingly enough the formula for the Dog pill pocket is the same as it would be if Greenies made a cat pill pocket that was Grain free. Works great because these are HUGE for a cat; so we break off tiny pieces to disguise her allergy pills in She also gets a treat after taking meds for ear issues. Highly recommended for allergy cats (although this is a dog product!!)
Works every time!

This is the only thing that my German Shepherd will swallow whole with two tablets and 1 capsule. We’ve tried steak, hamburger meat, bologna and peanut butter. Nothing worked. She would pick out the medicine and eat everything else. When we tried this product, we were amazed out how quickly she swallows it. My husband forms the pocket around the medicine and she swallows the whole thing. We will never have to worry about her refusing take medicine when we have a Pill pocket!

Bought these in order to give my puppy her allergy meds. They have the consistency of peanutbutter with out the sticky. And the smell Oh My! But my puppy seemed to be ok with them. It took her much longer to finish it versus a regular treat but she took her meds and thats the important part. Having a puppy with grain and chicken allergies limits the things she can have. Thankfully I was able to find a pill pocket product that she could have.
these things turn pills into treats

my dog has to take rimadyl 2x per day and i used to have to break it into pieces and jam it down his throat. he'd always spit some of it out and i'd have to try again, and was almost never able to get him to swallow all of it. these things turned a horrible experience into a treat. they are SUPER stinky, but they work and now he loves his "rimatreats"

I got the chicken pill pockets before for my dogs and was very pleased with them, and so were the dogs. I thought I give them a special treat in ordering the "duck" flavor.
In opening the package I immediately gagged from the awful stink. I can hardly get myself to touch them and have to wash my hands twice to get rid of the horrid smell.
Dogs still eat them but with very little enthusiasm.
Safe yourself and your nose!!
Dog Doesn't Like

My dog (who will eat anything) does not like these. This is the first food ever that he has refused to eat, so they don't work for us. Beware if your dog is a picky eater because these might not work. Several of the pockets were crumbled and falling apart as well. Will have to find another portable pill-taking option for my dog.

I ordered these because my dog has allergies and currently has to take meds for anxiety. I opened the bag and the smell was horrific. My dogs wouldn't even try it, although they are on duck & potato food. I don't blame the product, just ingredients. I'll stick to the hickory flavor from now on. My dogs loves that.
Who says they are just for dogs?????

One of my 4 cats takes 3 pills a day and became evil about the cat pill pockets and refused every flavor made. When I got fed up with "shoving the medicine" down his throat I tried the dog greenies in a flavor I know he likes. WOW! It has been 4 months and he has never fought me on taking his meds. He even comes to me and begs to remind me to give him his meds. Gotta love a cat who wants dog treats, but please don't tell my cat. lol
