I was quite disappointed given all the reviews that claimed it smelled like coffee(honestly that was why I wanted to buy it ). The pellets easily crumble apart and the bucket is way too hard to open even after you’ve opened it the first time, I have to wrap my fingers in a towel to prevent skin from coming off. It’s a decent amount for the price, but there is better tofu litter for less.

I received this litter in a very compact vacuum packed bag. It wasn’t heavy at all and it really expanded when I opened it, enough to fill an extra large litter pan. It had a very slight odor to it but it was pleasant, like a melon or something. When I poured it into the litter box I noticed that it had zero dust. This was one of the biggest pluses for me. I really don’t like the dust from clay litter and neither do my two cats. Another real plus was the weight of it, it’s light! Yeah!! So it took at least three days for my little cat to even try the litter. But she did finally try it. And then it took a few more days for her to use it again. I believe she likes it now though. But to my knowledge, my other cat did not try it at all as of yet. She stuck to the original. I have since read that when changing over to this type of litter, I should make it half and half until going all out. I didn’t want to risk any refusals altogether. Scooping …so scooping was a bit challenging. I feel like a pair or cooking tongs would work much better than a traditional scooper. My experience was that it clumped just fine but the unused litter wouldn’t sift through the openings of my scooper and back into the litter pan. All in all this is a great litter if your cat likes it and once they and you get used to it. I would recommend it, especially to current tofu users

I wanted a non dusty litter and I think this is the best I’ve tried. The product comes tightly sealed and once you open the bag it quickly expands. At first the litter has a strange scent but that fades away quickly. This product is wonderful at keeping your home poop and pee odor free. However, I did find that when I went to clean it and remove the waste the poop did start to smell as I dug it up but this did not bother me since it’s going to be thrown away anyway. This litter is flushable; however, I do not recommend flushing it if you have a septic tank just to be safe. It does dissolve in water which I think it’s pretty cool. What I didn’t like is that it took my cats three days to start using this litter. They didn’t even consider it as their new toilet but with patience and placing a piece of poop in there they quickly got the hang of it. I definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for non dusty and safe from harmful substances litter for your precious fur babies.

Unique litter with unique issue

I have 6 indoor cats and used this litter in an extra box in an area where I was already considering adding a box. This litter has no dust at all and reminds me of broken mechanical pencil leads, except these are white and not graphite in color. The litter does clump, but it is a little difficult to sift through using the standard slotted type litter shovels. This is truly the most low-tracking litter I have ever seen. Surprisingly, this litter does not seem to have any odor blocking qualities as I could easily smell cat pee for hours after my cat used the box. In fact, the more the cats started using the box, the more the litter seemed to smell. I don't mean smell when there were solids in there, I mean right after I scooped the box clean. The litter itself has an odor. I scoop every single box every single night (always have) but this litter, once it gets used a few times seems to take on an odor that is reminiscent of well, wet tofu. There are worse odors (especially when we're talking about litter boxes) but I believe that a good litterbox is one that may be seen but never smelled. A litterbox should not smell after all the waste has been removed, but sadly this litter has a smell all its own - with or without your cat's input.

This is my first time using a non-clay product and am pleased with the performance of Happy and Holly tofu litter. Both of my cats willingly used this new litter. My long haired cat is very messy with clay litter, kicking it out all over the floor as she enthusiastically covers her potty. The light-weight tofu pellets stayed in the box no matter how much she kicked and dug in it. As with any unscented products, there was odor but it is easily fixed with the scented baking soda I stir into their box. The pellets are narrow, light, and easy to sift. My only critique is the lid- my husband used pliers to remove the safety tab and strip that is removed when first opening the litter pail.

Well, I tried this bag of clumping tofu litter by itself, as instructed. I tried it with their old litter on top. I tried it with their old litter mixed with this new litter. I even sprinkled and mixed it some “Litter Attract.” One of my cats, walked into the litter box…turned around and walked out. My other two cats stuck their heads in the litter box…then, turned around and walked away. It’s hard to give this product more than one star, or recommend it, since all three of my Maine Coons simply refused to use it.

I have 3 cats, and none of them seem to like this litter. I used this in one litter box and used their usual litter in the other box. The next time I cleaned the litter boxes, the other box had been heavily used, the one with this litter had only two urine clumps. No feces. I didn't like the smell of the litter when it came out of the pail, and it smelled even worse after they had urinated in it. (Doesn't seem like the litter neutralized the odor.) It also tracks somewhat and it's in big pieces that aren't something I want to pick up with my vacuum. One great thing about it was that it was dust free when I put it in the box. And it comes with a scoop, which is handy.

My cat Toby walked right into this litter without hesitation. It seems very smooth for his paws and it is dust-free which we both appreciate very much. Also I was very impressed with its odor control and fast clumping. Its particular mix of plant ingredients gives the litter itself a very mild, neutral scent which I prefer to other litters I have used.

After using many different kinds of litter, I chose this tofu litter to try with my kitties. First off, the lid was almost impossible to remove. That's good so it wouldn't spill if tipped over. However, having to get out tools to pry the lid off after removing a very substantial locking strip wasn't fun. The litter looks like broken pieces of noodles but is very light. That's a plus if you can't lift a heavy container of litter. It clumps well after kitties leave either urine or feces. However, cleaning the lumps out of the box may be a challenge for many litter scoops. I use very heavy metal ones which stand up to the necessary digging needed to get the clumps located. The clumps stay together while I shake the extra dry litter from the scoop. That's a plus. However, it takes much additional time to sift out the dry litter over the normal sandy type of litter I have been using. Just the time factor alone makes this less than ideal for my household. Down in the pail of litter was a scoop for adding the litter to the box. For my choice, I'd just pour it into the box and not bother with the scoop. I appreciate the thought of including it, though. I doubt I will use this litter after the starter tub is gone. Time is important to me with the number of rescue kitties that live here.
