Years ago I had the pleasure of visiting with Kim Hawthorne regarding her grandfather who started this company and her passion to continue in his footsteps. Every product Hawthorne makes and offers to the public has been tested and used by them personally on their horses in a work setting. This Venice Turpentine when properly applied makes all the difference in a short time for a sore footed horse. It comes with a very sturdy brush applicator that will last. I keep brown paper bags and wax paper on hand to use. Great product! Chewy is the absolute best place to order all the thins needed from cats dog chickens to equine. I love Chewy for their dedication to customer service.

Hoping to help harden hooves in the mud season

I was very sticky and difficult to apply. The brown paper did not stick to the hoof and there was no brush. The description said with brush but no brush. So trying

Wasn't sure what to expect...

First I had no idea this was going to be the consistency of rubber cement. Or that I would need 'brown paper' to apply it, definitely wasn't prepared for that one

First I had no idea this was going to be the consistency of rubber cement. Or that I would need 'brown paper' to apply it, definitely wasn't prepared for that one. But once I had it all sorted out, and had rubber gloves to wear, you definitely need those when working with this stuff, it went smoothly. I needed it to help harden the bottom of my horses hooves. We just pulled his shoes and he was horribly sore. After several weeks and a couple of applications he is finally walking better.

Best Product!

My horse was foot sore so her farrier recommended this product in order to toughen her soles (so much rain!). It does the trick! Highly recommend!!

Nothing better for stone bruises. My horses soles have been getting banged up for a while and using this product has been a huge help. It’s also helped a lot with cracks and chips. Hooves look gorgeous. I don’t mess with paper when applying this, I just paint it on in my horses stall and it sets without issue. I hope Chewy has it in stock soon, I need more!
