Does the seat belt secure the carrier?

The car seatbelt does not secure the carrier. It is secured with adjustable straps that attach to the car seat headrest and around seat. It also allows for height adjustment.
Is the tether that attaches to the harness adjustable. I read some reviews that their fur-baby was hanging off the side n 1 woman said she had to figure out how to make it shorter.

The length of the safety strap on the car seat is adjustable.
Assuming the pet is the correct size for the seat, is the tether long enough for the pet to lie down?

If the pet is small enough to lay down in the booster seat, the tether can be adjusted to allow them to.
Can you replace or order the straps separately? my puppy loves to chew on the straps and I don't want to buy an entirely new seat.
