My 13 year old dog recently had his remaining 5 teeth pulled. Yep, he’s now completely toothless. The kibble he was eating previously was duck & potato. I wanted to keep the same protein, duck. I didn’t have time to slowly transition to this food. This food is free of thickeners like gellan gum/ carrageenan, etc. which give him diarrhea. He never had any loose stools with this food but I do give him Purina fortiflora probiotics as well. It seems like high quality food, no strong odors & looks like human food, lol. He loves this food but it’s a lot more expensive than his previous food. So I may have to look for a different soft food without thickeners, which is hard to find.

Causes hair loss

My dog absolutely LOVED this food. He is the world's pickiest eater. He devoured it within seconds. It smells fresh, looks fresh, I have no complaints from that

My dog absolutely LOVED this food. He is the world's pickiest eater. He devoured it within seconds. It smells fresh, looks fresh, I have no complaints from that end. I noticed right around the time we started him on it that he was shedding like crazy. It was Spring, so I blamed the weather. He continued to shed, in very large clumps all through the spring and summer. Not normal. We are talking, vacuuming the house 5 times a day, brushing him three times more than normal, and still seeing clumps of hair every time he moved. After a little research, and much trial and error, we discovered it was the Health Extension food. Super bummed, because it's his favorite, but so happy to see his hair staying put and the itching stop! We were only using it as a topper, so I can't imagine how much worse it could have been.
