Where do your herbs come from?

Our herbs are individually sourced from specific providences of China, such as Shanxi that has grown astragalus for thousands of years, to ensure the highest level of quality. Every batch of herbs used in our formulas is tested in the U.S. to ensure purity, authenticity, and safety.

What kind of safety measures do you take with your ingredients?

From the soil the herbs grow in, to the finished bottles going out the door, we monitor every step of the process and abide to the most stringent testing guidelines to guarantee that every element that goes into Herbsmith herbal blends meets the absolute highest standards for purity and safety. All raw materials used in production are subject to a battery of tests to ensure only the highest quality herbs are included in our products. We use Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) testing to confirm the chemical composition, authenticity, and potency of each herb. Further testing for moisture content, dissolution, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium) and microbial content are performed on every batch, including Aristolochic Acid and Chloramphenicol testing. Products are also reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration upon arrival in the United States for manufacturing.
