Feeding Instructions

Fill your pet bird’s food container with as much food as it will consume in a 24 hour period. Usually for parrots (African Greys, Amazons, and Eclectus), the portion may range between ½ to ¾ cup of food per bird. For Macaws and Cockatoos, the portion may range between 1 cup and 1¼ cups of food per bird. Adjust the portions to meet your bird’s specific dietary needs. Supplement this diet with fresh fruits and vegetables. Remove uneaten food and seed hulls and clean food dish before refilling with new food. Always maintain fresh drinking water for your pet bird.

Transition Instructions

While introducing a new food to your pet friend, gradually mix new food with your pet’s old diet. Increase the amount of food over a period of 7 to 10 days. This will allow your pet to adjust to the new food and it will prevent any upset to your pet’s digestive system.

    The Best The Best

By Brandy on Jan 7, 2021

Finally...We are both so Happy. My bird took to this food so well. I was so amazed. We have tried so many different foods and have either been so disappointed In the product or my bird just wouldn't eat it because it was too big or the seeds were just too small being he is a medium small parrot (caique) it has been hard to find a food for him. We are giving him both Higgins Safflower Gold and Higgins Mayan Harvest Tikal for variety. He loves it and we know he is getting a 100% quality product.

    Garbage, dry powder, tiny seeds!

By Debnh on Jan 11, 2021

I hadn’t purchased this in a long time. Higgins used to be my grey parrots go-to choice but this stuff I got was nothing more than powdery, dry, tiny seeds with a handful of dry fruit and veg tossed in! The quality is absolutely horrid. This stuff is suitable size wise for a cockatiel at best but the dry powdery mix is enough to cause sneezing fits in my parrot which is what it did today. We threw it out. Never again.

This is great parrot food. My parrots love it. This is the Tikal formula that has chamomile in it. It smells really good. All the ingredients look so fresh.

OMG! We LOVE It (the Birdz)

By LindainCO on Jan 15, 2020

I opened this last night, the birds were waiting with breathless anticipation. We have two Amazons, two Goffins Cockatoos, and a B&G Macaw. I was happy to see the chamomile in the mix, and loved the nuts, fruits and seeds. I understand that many big birds don't like the small seeds, but Lovey, our B&G, was digging for the seeds this morning, much to my surprise, and the other birds were just thrilled with the mix! I know some people don't like sunflower seeds, but I have never seen a difference in behavior with our birds following ingesting sunflower seeds, and they have them inn their cooked food (Bob's Red Mill Muesli), also. They ate just about everything in the mix (some of them are undecided about dried fruit, others dive right in!) and so it is our new favorite! … more

    A Delicious Addition

    By RB2andSunConure on Jan 9, 2020

Both my Sun Conure and my Galah love everything in this mixture. They eat their chop and Rowdy Bush pellets first thing in the morning, then I give them their favorite goodies throught the day. This seems to be their favorite seed mix. I would never feed it as their only diet, as I want my birds at healthy weights. This mixture has very few sunflower seeds, which is good, as sunflower seeds are really fattening. My birds love this as a healthy treat.
