Transition Instructions

Begin the transition by mixing both the current food and their new cat food together. Gradually decrease the amount of the current cat food while increasing the amount of new cat food. Continue to do this over a 7-day period. Transitioning slowly can result in fewer digestive issues and better acceptance of the new cat food. Mix 25% of the new food in with 75% of the current food for the first 2 days, then mix 50% new food with 50% existing food for the next 2 days, then mix 75% new food with 25% current food for the next 2 days. By day seven, you can feed your cat 100% new food.

    Senior Kitties Love It

    By on

We have 2, 16-year-old, sibling kitties that are starting to have more health issues which included UTI's recently. I decided to look into senior foods that may be better for them and found this one. They sure seem to like it because they picked it out of their old food when I was trying to transition it! Will continue to see how it works for them! Only thing I wish was that it was a smaller kibble - pretty large for kitties with old teeth.

    Regular food like a treat

    By on

I ordered this particular cat food as it was the closest kind that I wanted for my elderly cats. The cats love it and I have to give them the food more as a treat than regular food or they would gorge themselves. Every morning my female cat sits by her dish waiting for me to give her some of this food even though there is other food available in her dish.

    I am amazed!

    By on

My cat, Stacy, is 17+ years old. She was losing weight every month and losing hair on the sides of her body and on her tail. The texture of her fur had changed, which I thought was due to her age and having been given cortisone shots for her asthma. I bought this food on a lark, never thinking it would really help, but boy! Was I wrong! With one 7 lb bag not even completely gone, she has gained weight. Her hair has grown in on the sides of her body, and the hair on her tail is fluffy again. My other cat, Simon, loves to play with Stacy's tail now! At first, neither cat was eating much of the food, for the kibbles are larger than any other dry food I have bought for them. Eventually, I noticed My cat, Stacy, is 17+ years old. Stacy comes to me and meows loudly, which I now know means GIVE ME MORE KIBBLES WITH MY NEW FOOD MIXED IN! I should explain that Stacy has always been picky about her kibbles. She will not eat just one type of food. I have to buy at least three different dry kibbles to mix together. Then she is happy, for she picks out the flavors she is in the mood for that day! Yeah, she's a cat. Thank you, Science Diet, for developing a better food for older cats. I will no longer be buying SD Light, but will buy this new food for older cats for my dear old gal. Simon is 10, and he is enjoying the new flavors, too! … more

Great for my cats sensitive stomach

    By on

This food is the only food I've found that works for my cat. He has a problem with diarrhea that nothing has solved, and he also has hyperthyroidism and sensitive stomach formulas tend to have exacerbative fish oils. This is the only food that solidifies his poop. But honestly I love chewy in general. They feel like an honest, caring company, which not many places feel like anymore.

    Disappointed

    By on

I purchased this brand based on other reviews for my 15 year old nearly toothless kitty, hoping it would spur her interest in returning to hard food following her most recent teeth extractions. Do dice! She doesn't even like the smell of it.

My cat with hyperthyroidism is on her 2nd bag and seems to be doing very well. She had a problem keeping food solid food down. She has either evolved through that problem or this food is helping.

    Science Diet saves the day

    By on

My Zara is 12 and recently started having constipation issues to the point of having to visit the vet for a 3 day stay, 3 enemas each day. Constipation is an issue that happens when our fur babies age and Science Diet Age Defying Cat Food has enough fiber to keep her regular. She is no longer backed up and is no longer vomiting every day -- only the occasional hair ball. I would wholly recommend this food for your senior feline for good digestive health.
