Where it All Began
Himalayan Pet Supply is the original creator of the Himalayan Dog Chew. Their team supports a network of over 10,000 Himalayan farmers who handcraft these ancient hard cheese chews for dogs around the world. Not only are these chews adored by pups and approved by pet parents, but they are also the only chews that are certified Fair Trade by the World Fair Trade Organization.
Tradition + Innovation
Combining ancient traditions with modern innovation, Himalayan Pet Supply chews start in the Himalayan mountains at over 15,000 feet, near Mount Everest. They are crafted with a winning combination of yak and cow milk and are 100% free from preservatives and binding agents. And since they are made for dogs, they are completely free from lactose, gluten, grain, soy, corn and wheat!

Serving Pets and the Community
Himalayan Pet Supply took part in passing the first laws in Nepal, allowing farmers to insure their livestock as capital. They also support the health and safety of farmers, their livestock and therefore the health and safety of the dogs who enjoy their treats. With rigid safety and hygiene requirements, you can rest assured that your pet is getting natural, high-quality, ethically sourced chews.
Doing Good One Chew at a Time
Every chew sold supports Chews 4 Literacy and for every pound of cheese chewed, a book is donated to a library in Nepal through the Manaram Foundation. They have built 175 libraries in Nepal providing resources for the farmer families who work hard to provide pets with fresh ingredients. Himalayan Pet Supply also donates 100% of profits from their toy line to the Women’s Skill Development Center.

About Himalayan Pet Supply
In 2003, after discovering Kaos the dog loved Chhurpi, a traditional cheese chew made from the people of the Himalayas, two brothers and their friend had an idea to create a dog-friendly version. After 4 years of tweaking the ancient recipe, removing the lactose and fat content, they ended up with a tasty and savory, long-lasting chew, now known as a Himalayan Dog Chew. Himalayan Pet Supply has grown from a small company attending local pet fairs, to now a global company that’s made their mark in the pet industry by creating a new chew category for dogs.

Poor quality compared to other brands
By TBTB on Jan 15, 2021
I have two German shepherds and have given them yak milk bones before. I bought this brand for the first time and am pretty disappointed. I ordered the XL size and within 10 minutes one of my dogs dropped it on the ground from about 2 feet and the bone broke in half. I can’t safely give them the half size because it’s too small. A few chunks eventually broke off and I followed the instructions to soak and then microwave and the pieces didn’t get soft. I’m just not sure why this brand is so different than other ones I’ve gotten that were much stronger and eventually heated up soft. I won’t be buying these again.

Awful Bone! Do not buy EXTREMELY hard
By Christine on Jan 2, 2021
Absolutely do not buy this bone for your dog. I have a Pitbull mix who can chew through anything in a matter of minutes. Bought this bone because of it being a long lasting also vegetarian. Gave it to my pup for Christmas and next thing I hear is a loud breaking noise. I swore he broke a tooth, but he didn't he just broke off the tip off a back one. I IMMEDIATELY threw it out. I check reviews online for this bone and many owners have complained about their pet's teeth cracking/breaking. I asked my local vet office and even they said this bone is bad due to how hard it is. Do NOT buy this for your pet unless you want to spend money on dental procedures.

Brittle, did not last long.
By oggoddoggo on Jan 20, 2021
I have purchased yak chews for my dog before and it usually takes him a couple days to gnaw it down to a nub. I specifically got the largest one I could so my 50 pound dog could enjoy it for as long as possible. He had this one down to a nub within an hour, it was so brittle he was just breaking pieces off and eating them instead of chewing on it. Maybe it was a bad batch or an old one that was sent to me but I would not recommend this at all it was a waste.

Dogs LOVE them
By MrBub on Dec 31, 2020
I have three dogs - two extra large and one small one - and they all love these cheese chews. I get the extra large chews for my big dogs and the three pack of small chews for my little dog. I buy them once a year as a Christmas stocking stuffer and they all celebrate. Haha! I sometimes buy another set over the course of the year, but they're expensive which is why I deducted one star. I'd rate them 5 stars and buy more frequently if they were more reasonably priced.

Dogs like them
By Fjordlover on Jan 13, 2021
We bought the large ones, because we have a 10 month old Lab pup that goes thru everything fast. My negative with this, is that I handed her the bone, she walked to her bed and dropped it on the tile floor and it split into smaller pieces, some of which would of been a choking hazard. The longer piece kept her busy for awhile. For our older spaniel, he can’t make any headway with it, so I puffed the smaller pieces for him.

Healthy snack
By Tazz on Jan 2, 2021
I'm glad the himalayan dog treats were suggested to me. They're good for my doberman. These take a while for her to get through, so I know just one of these will keep her busy for a good week. Plus, they're a lot healthier than other treats and chewies on the market. I do wish Chewy would bring back the himalayan pops. They look like a popsicle for dogs.

Good overall
By PamBaxa on Dec 31, 2020
Our Belgian Malinois loved this thing. It did last her about 5 hours overall until we had to soak and microwave it. It is also rather messy. There were A LOT of left over crumbs anywhere she chewed it. It doesn't seem to have given her any stomach upset so we will likely purchase it again, just not very frequently due to how long it lasts.

Clean and odorless
By Excellent on Jan 14, 2021
We really love this chew! Our dog can’t have fatty treats or bones because of tummy issues. These have worked out as the perfect alternative, also helping to keep her teeth clean. They last her a long time and are odorless and non-staining.

Worth Every Penny
By Lindy on Nov 13, 2020
My little 11 lb mix-breed has very soft teeth. Tartar builds up quickly. She can eat a 6" bully stick in 2 days (limited time in the morning only). These Himalayan Treats last so much longer. I gave her a medium, rather than the recommended small. It took over 2 weeks (much cheaper than 7 bully sticks) for her to get it down to a nub. Greatest thing is, unlike the bully sticks, once it's too small, you soak it in hot water, microwave 45 seconds and poof! You've got a crunchy crouton like SAFE snack for her to eat the next day. No waste. No smell. Last a long time AND she loves it.
