Where it All Began

Himalayan Pet Supply is the original creator of the Himalayan Dog Chew. Himalayan Pet Supply took part in passing the first laws in Nepal, allowing farmers to insure their livestock as capital. Doing Good One Chew at a Time

Every chew sold supports Chews 4 Literacy and for every pound of cheese chewed, a book is donated to a library in Nepal through the Manaram Foundation. In 2003, after discovering Kaos the dog loved Chhurpi, a traditional cheese chew made from the people of the Himalayas, two brothers and their friend had an idea to create a dog-friendly version. After 4 years of tweaking the ancient recipe, removing the lactose and fat content, they ended up with a tasty and savory, long-lasting chew, now known as a Himalayan Dog Chew. it is a bone!

I think it is a bone, but Coco is just 10 lbs. and her mouth is way tiny. We discussed that when I ordered, so I plan on returning the second bag. They tell you,

I think it is a bone, but Coco is just 10 lbs. and her mouth is way tiny. We discussed that when I ordered, so I plan on returning the second bag. They tell you, after the dog is through with the first pass at the bone, soak it, microwave it, then give the resulting 'cheese' to the dog. She couldn't even handle that, so this is definitely for a larger dog, who can handle a real bone. i.e., my German Shepherd would have gotten it down to the cheese nub at first pass. So, while I can't recommend it for the toy poodle size, I think it would be great for larger dogs. After you read the label, I'm sure you'll agree, it's a lot healthier for dogs than some of the bone treats offered in grocers. Plus there is the 'cool factor' when you tell others you feed your dog(s) Yak bones for treats.

Very Small Cheese Treats

Purchased for my two Boston Terriers and these are actually too small for them. I wouldn't recommend for dogs that are over 20lbs because they become a choking

I have one that’s a small and it’s a bit loose but when I ordered another in small different style but same company it didn’t fit/ too small. Very frustrating. This product is no good because it hasn’t any padding and is uncomfortable for dog. Order their other product WITH THE PADDING!!!! The martingale product is great, but you must buy the padded version instead!!!

The Blue thing seen at bottom of the picture is a outward hound ballon squeaky Toy, large. He has had it since he was a small pup. Now he carries around like a pacifier! He really hates to hear "Bluey" squeak. It is like he thinks he could be hurt. Perfect rainy day activity! For a while, anyway!

These lasted so long

They lasted for over a week with constant attention from him. I love that there is this option for dogs that won't splinter or break teeth or any of the other things that seem to happen with other sorts of exciting chews.
