These are a serious choking hazard. My dog was unable to tear pieces off and got frustrated. So instead once he chewed to the consistency of a thick plastic bag he attempted to swallow whole. We were able to grab a corner and remove but these do not dissolve or crumble or tear or break into swallowable pieces. Our second dog chewed until rubbery and when she could not get any pieces decided to rub herself in the fish smell. Equally if not more dangerous than raw hides.
Our dogs love these, but I encourage you to supervise you pet when they're eating them if your pet like to scarf their food and try to swallow these whole because it can be a choking hazard. One of our dogs choked on this trying to swallow it whole and our other dog was fine. Beware of letting you dogs eat these on the couch because it will stink it up.
I don’t know why, but my dog threw up after eating this. He also had bad diarrhea for a few days after. This was the only change made to his diet and he loves the dried cod bites but this is a no for us, unfortunately.
My dog LOVES these! She chooses them over all of her other treats. They do smelly fishy, obviously, but the smell goes away as soon as the treat is eaten. I am buying 2 more bags.
Our dog loves these and they make a great high-value reward because they smell strongly enough to immediately get her attention, last long enough to hold it, but can be destroyed/consumed quickly enough that she doesn't leave them half-eaten on the floor. I'll definitely be keeping these in stock at home for times when we need to redirect or reward!
Ranch tested and Ranch approved!!! I love that it is just ONE ingredient... fish skin! Just don't expect this chew to keep your dog occupied for very long. Good quality treat for the money.
Our dogs go nuts for these, only problem they want to eat them sitting on the couch and the shed some scales. We keep them on the floor for this treat. High quality and very nutritious, the dogs can’t get enough.
These smell pretty bad once your dog starts chewing them. I have 3 dogs and am fostering 4 at the moment and 7 out of 7 dogs have no interest in these. I have noticed when they take them outside and the get rained on and more dried from the sun, the dogs chew on them, but even then very little. The Honest Kitchen has wonderful products, this one just wasn’t a good fit for our household.
This is similar to rawhide. My dog has choked on this item every single time (2x). She can’t get it to breakdown, so she tries swallows it whole.
although i love honest kitchen i use several of their products. i would not recommend these chews. unlike other fish skins i have used these are not crunchy . they get soft and if you have a dog that is not patient they will attempt to swallow the whole thing after it softens up almost like a thin rawhide. i just had to pull one out of my dobeys throat as she was struggling a little trying to get it down. that said if you do use them you need to stay with them. maybe these would be good for little dogs but big dogs in my opinion not so much
