The fish is gently steamed at about 165°F before being dehydrated to make sure they're safe and free of any pathogens, without the use of harmful irradiation. These Smittens treats are dehydrated, and not freeze-dried.

I love these- cute heart shape, high quality nutrition that my cat with allergies can have, good amount for the price, and easy to crumble up for my cat who has no teeth. My cat with allergies can basically only have freeze dried treats (like whole minnows) which are really expensive, so it's a relief to find something else he enjoys that doesn't cost $20/bag!
