I have to say I was a little skeptical about this product. I mean how many horse treats do you know that are made from products that would otherwise be tossed. With

I have to say I was a little skeptical about this product. I mean how many horse treats do you know that are made from products that would otherwise be tossed. With the prices these days, and the amount of food we waste it’s nice to see someone is willing to find a use for things that would end up being thrown away. We have six horses and much to my embarrassment exercise has been in short supply. I try to watch their sugar and starch consumption so treats can be tricky. I am really impressed with these, they smell amazing and are a nice size. No fillers like corn are used, and no added sugar and starch. They include the fruit and flax. And moreover my horses actually love them. I am ready to try the other flavors.

My two 24 year old mares LOVE banana, but bananas are high in sugar and my girls are both insulin resistant. This treat does not have any added sugar. I like the very simple ingredient list - the first four ingredients listed are alfalfa meal, oats, banana, and flaxseed. My Quarter Horse (the Labrador Retriever of the horse world) wanted to eat the whole bag, but had to settle for three heart shaped cookies. They are about 2 inches across, so are a nice size. Also, they do not crumble or make a mess in your pocket. My Rocky Mountain horse liked them as well, which is saying something, as she is a picky eater - especially with anything new. Other horses at the barn enjoyed them, too. Just for fun, I let my 3 goats give them a try. I broke each cookie into 4 pieces. They loved them! I was surprised how enthusiastic they were about them. Lastly, it’s nice that the bananas are “upcycled” - saved from the waste stream.
