Transition your dog over a period of 6 days. Start by adding some of Horizon's kibble gradually to your original food so that by the sixth day you are feeding only the new food.
Chewy was out of stock on my regular brand American Journey and sent me Pulsar as a replacement. Not sure if it's the brand but my dog has thrown up her food 3x since she's started eating this. Going back to American.
I am switching my 5 large breed dogs to a new food and unfortunately NONE of them would even so much as try one piece of this food. They smelled it and walked away. So this will be a waste of money and we'll move on and try another brand
Opened the bag and the food smelled off. Kind of an old stale smell. Dog wouldn’t touch it. I had mixed a small amount with her old Horizon Complete kibble, and she literally left only the Pulsar bits in her dog bowl. Finally found date at bottom and was 2 months expired. So buyer beware with Chewy. Check for expiration date before opening.
I discovered this brand after the FDA reported 67 cases of dogs, who were eating Acana, with cardiomyopathy suggesting a connection between grain fee dog food and heart problems. I don't know about that, I have always believed in Acana and still do but Pulsar, which is also grain free, is cheaper and ingredients are very similar to Acana. I give it 4* because of the FDA report. My bull terrier loves it.
I noticed this smells pretty good, it smells like turkey. So far so good, he's been eating it s little over a week.
My dog, has gone threw a lot of different dog foods. My friend recommended this one. After eating it she was hooked..I have tried the variety of what Horizan makes, she loves them all..
Great ingredients, my dog loves this.will always only buy Horizons products..
A lot of foods today are increasing the amounts of fats and proteins to mimic the diets dogs would have had in the wild. I fully stand by this, but my dog doesn't. He can't handle the higher levels and gets an upset tummy regardless of how long I've taken to switch the foods. I love this food. He no-longer refuses to eat! Horizon is the most affordable brand of food that is free of added hormones, steroids and antibiotics. I wish they made canned food as well.
They turn their noses up to this food, not eating at all
Toby is a very picky eater but really loves this food. He eagerly eats it without having to enhance it too much. His BM's are also nicely formed and he had no problems changing straight over to it. Good in every way.
