Not worth the money. My dog was freezing. I ended up by putting a warm sweater on him a winter coat on top of it (it was insulated but didn't cover his back) then I topped it with the UNINSULATED Hurtta Parka! We live in Northern Iowa not Canada where they hail from! We get -20 weeks and 10 above all the time. The coat has no insulation just a lining. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am especially with the advertising Hutta does.
This is as good as it gets for protection from cold and wet. Fits like it was made just for my dog. Its very comfortable and doesn't rub him anywhere and nothing underneath gets wet when he pees like all the previous coats I bought did. I cut off the back elastic leg straps because the tailored design of the coat makes them unecessary and they are just a bother. The inner top collar elastic keeps cold and rain out. When I hold the coat out my dog sticks his head through the opening! (And he looks stylish and ready for action) :)
Was not too sure about spending over $100 for a dog parka but this one is definitely worth it! Super soft and pliable yet build strong with good stitching. This thing covers your dogs core and helps keep em warm. It's also super easy to put on and take off. Here in North West Florida we've been getting mornings in the high 20's to low 30's and Brindy just loves this parka! It doesn't restrict movement at all and wow, the Bilberry color is beautiful! Using the size chart we got the perfect fit at size 26 for our 102 pound pup. If this holds up as it appears it will then it's a solid 5 star product!
Sizing was a concern upon ordering, so we thought this might be helpful for others. Our girl is a coonhound measuring 30" chest, 18" neck, and 26" back (neck to buns). She may not LOOK too happy in the photo, but this is keeping her warm and happy on single-digit walkies!
My dog has a really deep chest and we usually have a hard time finding things that fit him well but we were very pleased with this coat! Love that it secures with a buckle and not velcro and it kept him toasty warm all weekend up at the mountain. 100% worth the price and I'd definitely recommend it.
This is by far and away the best jacket we have found for our dog . Easily slides on then loops around back large and one strap around the torso and you are ready for cold weather walks. I wish I had found this jacket before going through so many trials and tribulations with others. I highly reccomemd
I have four coats (weather dependent) that I use on my GSP for our daily hike on the mountain trails behind my house during the fall/winter/spring. This is the jacket I put on him when the temps drop into the teens (degree f) or colder. It covers his chest and part of his belly while the drape on the sides protects his haunches when the wind is blowing. Also the incorporated insulated neck and snood allows me to cover his neck, head and ears as needed. A couple things I don’t like is I am not a huge fan of the barrel strap which allows the jacket to twist on his back … so the leg loops are definitely required to be used to keep the jacket centered… but even then I need to straighten it out several times each hike (our hikes are 2 to 2 1/2 hours each day). Maybe a side snap system (similar to the Ruff Wear coats I also use) could be incorporated along with the barrel strap to maybe fix this issue. Also if he he is running around in deep snow the chest area can collect snow so I will unsnap him occasionally to clear any snow that he collected during his romp through the deep forest snow. This coat is very well made and after paying for and trying out too many other dog jacket brands, I prefer and will only recommend either Huerta or Ruff Wear.
Having looked at a great many dog coats, I'm thrilled to have chosen this one. Although costly, it is worth every penny, given the quality of workmanship, body coverage and fit, warmth without weight. Perfect!
We had been looking for a heavier parka for our 2 dogs. These are well made and easy to put on and the dogs love them as do we. It gives them a lot of protection with our sub zero temps we sometimes get from the Nor'easters that come our way!
I have a Doberman and it is difficult to get jackets that are long enough and accommodate her chest without being way too big around her tummy and neck. This jacket is wonderful! I cinched it up around her tummy perfectly, and the elastic around the neck lets it fit perfectly. Highly recommend. As I saw noted somewhere, the length is the most important measurement!!!
