MIX IT UP, DOGS LOVE IT: Replace 1 cup (109 g) for each can of IAMS with Chicken and Whole Grain Rice (369 g) FEEDING GUIDELINES: These guideline amounts are a starting point and your dog may need more food depending upon age, activity and temperament. In order to reach optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. This represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total recommended feeding amount by the number of times you feed your dog per day to get the actual portion size per feeding.
Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your dog at all times. Because IAMS PROACTIVE HEALTH ACTIVE Adult Dog Food is complete and balanced for adult dogs, you do not need to add vitamin or mineral supplements When introducing IAMS Dog Food, gradually mix it with your dog's current food over the course of 4 days.
Change your dog's food slowly over a 7 day period. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet for the first 2 days. On the third and forth days, mix the old and new diets 50/50. By the fifth and sixth day you can feed 75% new diet mixed with only 25% of the old diet. By the seventh day your dog will likely be ready for his or her new diet exclusively. Every dog is different, so be sure to pay attention to your dog’s progress and adjust the transition if needed.

Great food - now discontinued

This was a fantastic food, high protein and moderate fat quality ingredients and included grains ( for heart health ) from a long standing trusted brand. My Aussie thrived on this food - great weight, good skin, eyes, coat, teeth. And to top it all off - reasonably priced for all that you were getting . Unfortunately it’s now been discontinued and there isn’t much out there that compares if you want to avoid boutique/niche products for safety reasons. I reached out to chewy for help. - and wow so glad I did. The rep offered 4 suggestions and after some additional comparisons online at the supplier sites and talking to a few forum members - I settled on one of the 4 recommended. I won’t share here what I selected since every dog is different and may have different needs and I’m certainly not qualified to offer advice on canine nutrition for your dog - but I can highly recommend reaching out to your chewy rep by calling or hitting the chat button if you don’t like the suggestions that pop up on the site in the discontinued product alternative suggestions. Your rep will take everything your looking for/need in a food and make several suggestions which they will place in your cart for your review. Delete the ones you don’t want and order the one you do. Sending out some Chewy customer service love here - you folks are the best!! Please keep doing what you do - because it’s perfect!!

Our Floyd is a Mutt...no doubt about it, he comes from a long line of inbred hounds. His Momma was. Greyhound/Bassetthound mix, ugliest dog I ever did see; and Poppa, was Beagle/Pitbull mix...together they made Floyd. Of the litter of 8, he was the runt...and nobody wanted him -so Floyd came home with me. What started out as cute and cuddly, has turned into the single most athletic canine specimen ever born. Floyd is as fast as the fastest greyhound, Floyd is as strong as the strongest Pit; a deadly combination for the WWE, but as a caring doggy daddy, my concern comes down to weight management...as Floyd has the metabolism of a Hummingbird...ZERO fat, anywhere. Floyd had trouble maintaining a healthy weight....even though he would eat like it was going out of style, sometimes three or four meals in a day...Floyd appeared on the brink of emancipation... NOT ANY MORE!!! This stuff has been the answer...Floyd is looking good...

FYI this food is not out stock. I contacted Marrs who makes IAMS and found out it has been discontinued. I was very happy with it. I wondered why it was taking to so long to get my product. I'm not happy as it's the 2nd flavor I went through being discontinued. I know it is not the fault of Chewy. Pedigree has a similar product, chicken & turkey. But I doubt it is as healthy. Afraid to try other food as she had constant gas when they switched the formula the first time. (tho they reimbursed me)

And I can definitely see a difference in her muscle definition because of the protein intake. She is a very active dog, but has always been a little on the bigger side. I was glad to see that this not only helped her slim out, but toned her up also. She’s evidently stronger than she used to be. Will likely keep her on this food until she slows down!
