I waited a few months to make my review. We had a 3 month old cat around 5 lbs who figured out how to go in and out of this door. The plastic frame is pretty easy to get on. Its not going to withstand heavy hits but is holding up wonderful at this time. Our 133 lbs Pyrenees fits through it easily, hes built like a saint Bernard. So far the doors stay closed really well. Would definitely buy again if I had another door that needed 1.

Look. I’m no carpenter but installing the door was pretty easy. Maybe took an hour ish. I think it looks good. We have three pups. 14, 13, & 2. The door is for our elderly dogs who can’t do long periods without a potty break. It took them maybe a week to get used to the function and freedom. My elderly pups are doing awesome. No more accidents. Occasionally the flap doesn’t close all the way causing a draft but when it’s closed we don’t notice a temperature difference near the door. Not a frequent issue.

The template is flimsy and easily torn. Had to take measurements and redraw it on part of the box. There is still air coming into the house around the door and the outer flap pops slightly open and shut most of the day much like the one I replaced. Where I think it will keep a lot of the heat and cold out there is still that space around and under the flap that lets air in.

Perfect replacement for same product purchased 20 years ago

Not sure why on Earth anyone's complaining but I installed this same doggie door 20 years ago and it's held up very well. The only reason I bought the new doggie door was because over the years the plastic flaps warped slightly and the brush trim on the sides had flattened, letting a little more of the cold air in. Because I'm in Colorado and my doggie door is right near my breakfast table where I sit, it was important to have a good seal on the door. Reinstalling it was a breeze and it fit perfectly where the old one had been. My only complaint is that I would have liked the flaps to have been darker tinted, they are almost not tinted at all (just like my old door).

I love that it is a double flap, to give some insulation. Plus there's a panel that slides into it, to keep dogs in and wild critters out, at night. My dog learned to use it very quickly, and loves to be able to go out in his pen easily. Medium is the perfect size for my 22-pound Sheltie.

Very heavy duty

Installation wasn’t to bad, the door is very heavy duty, but easy enough for our 4lb cat to use. Also lets minimal outside air in.

Door seems well built but arrived with one screw already stripped. Our handyman was doing the install so we just went ahead using three screws rather than returning. The two flaps will be helpful for our CO winters but we will remove one for the time being as our dog is having a hard time getting the hang of going through both.
