The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Cat pleasing crunchies!

    By on

While the primary diet of my 3 young adult cats is canned/wet food, they happily munch on the Instinct Kibble and Raw as a treat or to prevent possible starvation if dinner is running late. I notice they eat the raw bits first and as another review noted there are not as many raw bits as the picture on the bag would suggest. I vary their wet and dry varieties/brands and will add this to the rotation.

I have 4 Ragdoll cats that absolutely love Natural Instinct Raw Boost and with them being on the larger size I like to feed them the Healthy Weight version.

  • My boys did NOT like this food

    By on

I did some research for a dry kibble for my three old cat boys. This brand was the one I decided to try. First thing, not one of my boys would eat it. I did sprinkle the current kibble on it.....no interest. All three of my cats are usually enthusiastic eaters. I was surprised with their reaction. Tried for several days. They ate the spoonful of "wet" food I add to the kibble but not the kibble. I also noticed that at least half of the kibble was powdery and broken as if the bag had been stepped on... Soooo I made another order of their "regular" kibble. I am sure this brand is good for what they advertise but I will not buy it after the reaction my cats had.

  • Once of the best dry kibbles

    By on

While I am not a dry food person, I do give this to my cats as an occasional "treat" as well as to diversify their food. They cats (six of them) all love this food. The raw boost is the Crunchberries of Captain Crunch cereal (haha) and the cats enjoy the extra treats. Food is well balanced, natural, and list healthy protein and other nutrients required for good cat health. I would recommend this product.

  • Food seemed a little crushed compared with 5 pound indoor bag

    By on

My cat loves this brand of food. However, after buying a 10 pound bag compared with the 5 pound bag I usually buy it seemed really powdery. I would probably wouldn't buy this again for that reason. Not sure if a lot of the kibble got crushed during shipping.

  • So Far So Good

    By on

We have 5 cats and one in particular needed to lose a few pounds. We had a hard time finding a food they would all eat and (one in particular) not throw up. So far, this food seems to make them all happy.

  • Maybe she is picky

    By on

I had used instinct brand twice before buying this version, even though our cat Muffin did consume the other versions, she only ate the raw treats in this bag and refused the dry food itself. She is rarely picky so I am not sure if it is her taste or the versions.

  • They love it

My only concern is that it has menadione in it. I know that the aafco Requires it when there is 25% OR more fish in recipe. I don't think this has that much fish.

  • Cat "Lucky Charms"

    By on

This review is for Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Bits Chicken - not for the "Healthy Weight" formula. My two cats like this stuff pretty well. They'll ask for it if we've been only giving them wet, but mostly ignore it once they have it. What they like to do, like kids with "Lucky Charms" Cereal, is fish out all the raw bits (as if they were marshmallows), and eat those while leaving the kibble behind. They fish the raw bits out with their paws and make a terrible mess; the kids think it's hilarious. So, the food is healthy, entertaining, and apparently pretty-well received. Can't go wrong with that. ;)
