I've tried multiple different foods and this one works the best for my dog by far. He seems to absorb more of the food's nutrients (so smaller poops) and his tounge isn't as red. The only downside is that for some reason my pet store doesn't like to carry this version, they only have the grain-free ones, but Chewy does a great job of getting it to me in a short amount of time!

My dog has eaten Instinct for four years without any problems. They changed the formula in the last few months, and now his poor stomach is rebelling. First, he vomited twice a day for three days. Then, his stool became significantly less formed and significantly smellier. Two weeks later, he's farting up a storm. We gave this new formula a try and discovered it's not right for us. I'm so disappointed in this company after being loyal to the brand for four years.

I have tried the Instinct Raw food before, but this was my first time trying the kibble and freeze dried. The kibble itself is quite small, I have two medium sized dogs and I tend to go a larger size. They eat out of slow feeders and this was a bit hard for them to get out since it was so small. Also, the freeze dried portion seemed low- I expected there would be more of the raw incorporated, but it was mainly kibble. All that said- my dogs did like it, and they didn’t have any adverse reactions to it. Personally though, I would prefer using the frozen raw pellets and adding as a topper.

The first six ingredients: chicken, chicken meal, barley, sorghum, oatmeal, and brown rice. My 50-lb, 2-year-old blue heeler immediately showed interest. His recommended allotment is 1 3/4 - 3 cups daily. I give a cup and a half in the morning and then at night. It must be tasty because he emptied his bowl each time. (I did mix with his old food, as recommend.) He like the freeze-dried chicken throughout it but was happy to eat the kibble, too. He seemed to digest it well. There is not a ton of the freeze-dried chicken, but enough to make my guy happy. Overall, I think he was happy with the food. I would feel comfortable keeping him on this brand.

I was happy to see chicken as the first ingredient because that's one of the main things I look for in a dog food. I was a bit disappointed in the amount of raw food. There's not much, at least in the bag I received. I felt like when you order a cinnamon raisin bagel and there are 2 raisins in the whole bagel. Lol Anyway my dogs did seem to like it. I don't think I would purchase this product but if you are ok with just a tiny bit of raw food then it's for you.
