IRIS Open Wire Dog Pen, Large

I bought this last year for my puppy and it was great, at first, until he got old enough to start going in and out of his “den” (as adult dogs do). That’s when he began getting his paws trapped under the guide bars across the doorway. The first time, he got loose before I could get to him to help out and I wasn’t sure exactly what happened, but I had my suspicions. The second and third times it happened, I had to help him get his paw unstuck while he screamed in fear and pain. I’ve tried covering the bars, wrapping things around them, etc., but they are needed for the door to open and close (they are the main track of the door works). I’ve even kept the door closed, so he can’t go in and out, but then I have to pick him up and over constantly. I’m terrified he will break his leg or hip and he cannot survive anesthesia for surgery to fix that type of injury. This is a very poor safety design, even though the crate is lovely to look at.

Item arrived in good condition and easy to assemble. I love that it does not take up too much space. I love that there is a floor included. I love the form factor. However, this is for small dogs. We have an 8 week old 7lb mini golden doodle puppy. He will grow to 20-30lb. I have now doubt he will be over the top before he reaches 20lb. Just know the limitations of the item and it will be great.
