I mix some wet food with dry for my 10 yr old JRT. I looked up on Dog Food Advisor for the highest rated for quality etc... I ended up with T.O.W., She loved it. Suddenly there were supply issues so I switched to another brand (Equally rated) she ate this for a while. Noticed an additive in my own food called "Natural Flavors" , looked it up and cannot find a specific result describing exactly what that is. Now I look and don't buy groceries for my family that contain it (when possible, its everywhere) I happen to check Dogs food and surprised to see most dog foods now contain it too! Stopped feeding Dog "Mer..." and found Kasiks, Great ingredients . No Natural Flavors and the Dog loves it.

My dog is 9 years old. She was a rescue at age 6 and although she is healthy, she was missing two of her bottom teeth already. Kasik’s food is wonderful because it is soft and I mix it in with her kibble. It is non gmo chicken with Kale, blueberries, cranberries and some coconut. There are no gums or preservatives. She loves it and it is not high in fat. The food comes from Canada. Canadians know how to make healthy dog food. I will keep buying Kasiks.

We have been hooked on FirstMate and Kasiks dog food recipes for a while now because of their high protein, low fat, low carbs, and low phosphorus levels along with the fact that it contains no controversial items like carrageenan. However, they are quickly loosing their greatness. Yesterday’s shipment of the FirstMate Turkey recipe came with a new label that shows the nutrient contents in the guaranteed analysis changed. Protein decreased from 11% to 9% on as fed basis and from 50% to 40.9% on a dry matter basis, which resulted in a 9% increase in carbohydrates on a dry matter basis and an 8% increase in the fat-to-protein ratio. In the Kasiks Chicken recipe, protein decreased from 45.5% to 40.9% on a dry matter basis, which resulted in a 5% increase in carbohydrates on a dry matter basis and a 4.8% increase in the fat-to-protein ratio. While the new nutrient levels are still within the “good” range, Kasiks and FirstMate are swiftly moving from being in the lead to the middle of the pack as it pertains to dog foods. Even more disappointing is the lack of information/notification regarding the changes. We are definitely starting to look for the next great dog food recipe.
