Attract Hummingbirds to Your Yard

Give your hardworking hummers the nutrients they need to thrive with Kaytee ElectroNectar. This high-energy hummingbird food is formulated to mimic flower nectar with added electrolytes and no artificial coloring.

Nourishing and Hydrating

Made with essential electrolytes, ElectroNectar is an energizing and hydrating formula that hummingbirds love. The electrolytes help maintain the proper balance of minerals and fluids, which is especially helpful in hot weather or during migration.

No Red Dyes

Hummingbirds are attracted to the red color of the feeder, not the food—which is why ElectroNectar is naturally clear and free from artificial red dyes. Red dye is not a natural component of nectar and can be potentially harmful to the birds over time.

Quick and Easy to Use

ElectroNectar is ready to use right out of the bottle, no mixing required. It saves you time and ensures your feathered friends get the right nutrients without any hassle—or choose ElectroNectar Concentrate if you prefer a mixable formula.

Carefully crafted and trusted by experts for over 150 years, Kaytee is the bird lover’s bird food.

Questions & Answers

5 Customer Questions

Is the expectation date on a bottle of Ready to Use KAYTEE ElectroNectar a date for an unopened bottle, or is it still a good date as long as the nectar has remained refrigerated?

Answer by ChewyMay 20, 2020
The shelf life for Kaytee Electro Nectar Hummingbird Food is two years if unopened and one year once opened. It must be kept refrigerated after opening.

How long before you have to change this nectar. I use a sugar solution and mix clean solution every other day and clean their feeder.

Answer by ChewyNov 13, 2019
If the temperature is over 80 degrees then it's recommended to put new Electro Nectar in the feeder every 3 days. If the temperature is under 80 degrees then it can be left in the feeder for approximately 5 days. Place the unused portion of the Kaytee Electro Nectar in the refrigerator after opening the bottle.

Does this need to be refrigerated once opened?

Answer by ChewyAug 09, 2019
After opening, it's recommended to store food in the refrigerator.

Why doesn’t the hummingbird food spoil in the liquid form while waiting to be purchased?

Answer by ChewyJul 31, 2019
This food is made with Potassium Sorbate which is used as a preservative.

GREAT hummingbird food!

I felt good when the hummingbirds liked this because it isn't just sugar! Those little flitter-flies need more than just sugar and if you don't have enough flowers

I felt good when the hummingbirds liked this because it isn't just sugar! Those little flitter-flies need more than just sugar and if you don't have enough flowers around, you have to give them something more to keep them healthy. This worked great!

Damaged Items

We have had multiple orders in which the Nectar is just placed in a box. No packing. By the time it gets to us they are damaged and leaking. These really need packing

We have had multiple orders in which the Nectar is just placed in a box. No packing. By the time it gets to us they are damaged and leaking. These really need packing material. The last customer service person said they were going to refund our order but we have not seen it yet.

Our local hummingbirds love it!

We like the concentrated form of the nector, as it stores more compactly, and it keeps really well, once opened, in the refrigerator. We follow the instructions

We like the concentrated form of the nector, as it stores more compactly, and it keeps really well, once opened, in the refrigerator. We follow the instructions for dilution and the hummingbirds in our neighborhood love it, and usually drain it down in 1-2 weeks max.

I use this every year and always get a bunch of hummingbirds. I’ve used other brands and this one works hands down!

Not spoiled upon receiving

They liked it when it was put out fresh but by the next morning they pretty much ignored it. I constantly clean the feeders with warm water and soap and rinse well

Simple. Easy.

The hummingbirds love the flavor. There's no red dye to the mixture, which is better for the birds. Even the Orioles love to take a sip once in awhile. Easy to

How not to ship hummingbird food

Most of the plastic jugs were smashed to fit in the box, at least not leaking like the last order. Im going to use the concentrate for now.

Great humming bird food

The humming birds fight for a spot at the feeder. Seems to last for a few weeks without spoiling.

Stick with sugar water.

I figured I try it & I guess the hbirds where I am are different & they had no interest at all. I even took down the feeder & cleaned again & nothing. I did notice

I figured I try it & I guess the hbirds where I am are different & they had no interest at all. I even took down the feeder & cleaned again & nothing. I did notice a weird slight chemical smell & maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to smell. Anyway, after the 2nd time , I replaced with sugar water that I always make & all is fine, & the hbirds wars are back on. Maybe I had a bad batch, but this product was a waste. Oh well.

I live in Florida and kept all my hummingbirds around because of this stuff! They love it so so much! During spring, they're a little more particular, preferring the varying blooming flowers surrounding, but when resources run dry, they always end up back to this stuff. I have a lovely red glass Mason jar hummingbird feeder that attracts them nicely and is a healthier alternative to plastic
