I recently rescued a 3 year old Standardbred gelding that was headed for slaughter. He was pretty skinny when I got him to my ranch. I decided to try Keyflow Key Plus added to his regular hay and pellets. I thought the rice bran, high fat product would be helpful to add some weight. The product looked and smelled palatable. He seemed to enjoy eating it with no problem. After about a month he has gained 80 pounds, and has a nice shiny coat. He still has a ways to go, so I will order a few more bags. It is low starch, low sugar as well, so I feel good that it is a nutritious product. I definitely would recommend it if you have a hard keeper or a horse that needs some weight gain.

I chose to review this product because I was a bit skeptical about it's claims only to learn that there have already been some very promising results to report after feeding it for 2 weeks. I have been feeding another, very high quality Rice Bran Supplement to my 2 horses, along with Balancer Pellets because they are on pasture all summer and excellent quality forage the rest of the year. This product is a little higher in fat than what I have been feeding and, maybe it's my imagination, but I swear that their coats are both shinier than ever and my 21 Yr. Young, 16 hand Mustang has dry flakey skin this time of year. Yesterday, when I hosed him off, the water beaded up on his back and hind quarters and hardly any flaking when I dry curry him. It is highly palatable to both of them and I believe that my ulcer-prone, high strung QH in rehab training with me, is feeling more comfortable, relaxed and certainly has more formed feces. This feed is not produced in the U.S. so the feeding directions are in Metric. Be prepared to convert and know your horse's weight. I also miss the easy-open zip cord on the bag and had to open with scissors. I could not find a freshness guarantee, but I may have missed it. I live in N. FL, USA so, although I do not like additives or preservatives, I pay attention to the potential of feed molding before I feed all of it. Check out the pictures for ingredients, feeding instructions and the pellets themselves. My horses love them so I think I'll keep feeding them for a while to see if they help my older horses top line strengthen along with his training program.

This seems to be a very quality feed, however my old horse is not that excited about it. I selected this feed because he needs to put on more weight. But he's pretty picky and also seems to think all of his feed needs molasses mixed in. As stated on the bag it is low sugar and adds calories without adding heat. 4 star for me because of his sweet tooth. I will find ways to have him eat it. Maybe mix with tasty grains he likes to get the benefits, but for me it is not worth the extra energy it takes to have him eat it. So i would not buy again. At least for him. Pricey especially for a picky eater.

We added it to the pony's soaked hay pellet mash, however he ate it very slowly. We tried feeding it dry and wet, when wet it makes a pasted. Our pony was not a fan of it and would not eat it.
