This treat fits in the category of what my son refers to as a "high value treat" when he makes out the Christmas list for his pup. My dog would go through a brick wall to get one of these, and I can't say that about most of the treats the pantry. [I grabbed the bag to write this review, and he is sitting here staring at me with soulful puppy eyes. :-) ] The treat itself is a minimally-processed freeze dried duck heart, much softer than jerky-like treats and easily capable of being cut in half to stretch the reward session a bit. A bag holds about 25 hearts, and directions say you can serve 4-5 a day as a treat or food topper for a 40 lb dog -- that would get a little pricey for me, so I keep them as a reward for my dog's appropriate herding behavior. Whenever he makes sure my indoor cats do not escape, he makes a beeline to the pantry to signal that he wants this very special snack.

I highly recommend these. I cut them in half for my pugs because they are a good size. I cut a half into 4 for my cat. She hates everything but loves these!

King Lou's Whole Duck Hearts are a total winner! The hearts are large, freeze dried and perfect for dogs and cats. The hearts averaged about 2 1/2" long and 1" wide. They are perfect as training aides, if I cut them up and snuck them in my pocket. They are easy to clip into smaller pieces for my cats. These are something that we'll happily order for our dogs and cats. I'd recommend them to anyone for treats or training aids.

These treats exceeded expectations! I was worried they’d be stinky or sticky, but they aren’t! My dogs were unusually excited before I even opened the package, so they must’ve smelled something that I couldn’t, which I appreciate! My 65 lb dog thinks they’re perfect, and my 40 lb dog loves them as well, although at first they’re the slightest bit difficult for her to chew. Despite her narrow and delicate mouth, she thoroughly enjoys them.

My dog and my cat absolutely love these treats. They are a bit big for my cats so I do have to cut them up. A few of my cats cannot tolerate them. They’re a little too rich for their stomachs. But my dog absolutely loves them. I have to hide them in the laundry room to make sure that nobody gets after the bag. Any one of them would gladly eat the entire bag of treats they’re so good!
