These kongs are a great thing for puppies. I discovered that using a canned version of puppies dry food works best because it's formulated the same way and reduces the risk of upsetting tummies. It's best to fill half way with canned food, then hide a tiny piece of treat in the middle, cheese works well, then fill the rest of the way with canned food and freeze. Puppies will get teething relief from the cold plus their going after hidden treat keeps them busy for a while. Frozen kongs also make great training tools for crate training, just toss one in the crate and say 'go home' for the command. When I have puppies I have 5-6 of these kongs in the freezer at all times just to have on hand. Consult with your vet before using just to make sure it's ok
I didn’t realize while ordering this how small it is especially since it costs over 10 dollars (definitely not worth the price for this size) and I picked the medium size! but my puppy loves it and I’ll probably have to splurge and find a bigger one for him
My dog is a 10 pound poodle and she totally loves this kong. I got her a size small, which seems to be the perfect size for her. It took her a few days to learn how to use it, but she eventually caught on. I’ll put a super tiny amount of peanut butter in it and she’ll lick it for like 15 minutes, lol.
When they say extra small, they mean extra small. Make sure you get the dimensions and be aware of how small this thing really is. Upon arrival, I put the Kong in the palm of my hand and we giggled about how much it looks like a doll toy. Tiny! I went back online and purchased the applicable size for my puppy, a large. As you can expect from Kong, it is made of quality material and should last for the duration needed for those sharp, gnawing, puppy teeth.
I actually ordered the smallest one from Chewy and bought another one from a store and quickly realized that once the food is dried, it's very hard to clean. I even attempted with a Bissell Steamer and gave up halfway - threwboth of them away. Maybe the bigger ones are easier to clean. Other than that, my puppy Raevyn loved it. It kept her very occupied during a long 7 hr drive.
These are really great. If you need a break and your dog is into food rewards this is perfect. You can fill this with a variety of things, kibble, treats, frozen pumpkin, frozen yogurt, peanut butter, frozen broth and kibble, canned food etc. Tons of options. I've read it's great for mental stimulation. I am not sure how true that is, but it's fun for the pups and gives mom/dad a small reprieve. I do want to mention that it is important to read the dimensions of these things. I bought a small for my husky pup and thought it would be okay. This thing is super small. That is my fault though, I should have seen what size it actually is and ordered two sizes larger. For reference, she was 9 weeks when we got this and about 16 pounds and I ordered a small. I would probably order a Large if i could go back and do it again.
We play fetch with our foster dog with this toy, and she loves it! She could stay outside 8 hours a day playing. Very durable toy. Our old dog loved the large kong as well!!
So far my Chihuahua puppy has destroyed 5 toys in 30 minutes or less. She loves this toy and hasnt quit playing with it since I gave it to her an hour ago. It is the perfect size for her.
My puppy LOVES this. It helps soothe her when she kennels for the night. HOWEVER, the 3rd one was not included for the bargain deal, I am hoping it is going to be send.
Ordered this so my new grandpuppy, Coco would have something fun to chew on. She doesn't quite get the concept yet. Had peanut butter all over her face. She may be a little young for this but she'll get it.
