When transitioning to a new pet food, do so slowly over a period of about 7-10 days, mixing an increasing amount of new food with old food each day: Start with 75% old food mixed with 25% new food for approximately three days. Then mix 50% old with 50% new for approximately three days.

We were so excited to introduce our pup to this, but we wanted to give this to our favorite (shh) which is our black lab, who is also the oldest of the group. He loved the flavor (although, he loves most food and inedible items as well). The catch phrase on the product has “Help your dog live longer and stronger.” I’m not sure how that could be promised, BUT I also am truly game to try anything that states that since I’ve been getting sad about Caliber getting older. He did need less food than usual when eating this- so he was fuller with less. Having a more easily digestible food source for him is also a plus. I will say, the pricing is a bit of a downfall for it. I would never be able to afford it as a regular item in our household. But, our pup enjoyed it and was eager to eat it as the senior pet in our home.

The Lafeber EmerAid Sustain Canine recovery food was absolutely what I needed to help interest my American Bulldog Stella. She wasn't feeling well and wouldn't eat. I tried chicken broth on her food, rice and turkey. Nothing was working and she was getting weak. This product truly helped to stimulate her appetite and get her interested in eating. After getting one good meal down she was ready to slowly ease back into her regular diet. It's not fun having sick fur babies but this product helped me worry just a little less.

Second, she ate it right away! It's easy to use - just mix with water to whatever consistency you want for your needs. Highly recommend!

Dog likes it! She can be picky, but she's excited about this supplement. We've been serving it as a "gravy" with her kibble in the mornings. She is a senior, but not geriatric, and she's only taken it for a week so far, so it's hard to say if it's helping her in any way. My complaints are (1) that it's messy, it sticks to the scoop and in the grooves of the packing zip closure making it occasionally difficult to close up and always gets on my hands. Also (2) she would need quite a lot of it for a 60lb dog. The chart on the listing doesn't even include dogs that large and she's a pretty average size in my opinion. We have not followed the recommended dose, but kept to one scoop a day just as a little extra nutrition and something fun for her. Also (3) it apparently needs to be kept in the fridge once opened which isn't the most convenient for our setup. The dog, she has zero complaints. She seems to really like it.

This seems like a really great product that provides a lot of nutrition and has not upset my dog's stomach. Whether it's working or not I can't really tell since it is just a sample size and I think it probably needs to be given for a longer period of time before the benefits are noted.

My almost 10 year old service dog, Presley Anne has severe gastric issues off and on, despite dietary changes. Some days she does great and other day, she struggles. Yesterday she was whining and her stomach gurgling and gagging were louder than normal. I replaced her food with this product by following the instructions and making her little balls of snacks to try. She did great and ate them without hesitation. As a picky eater, I was pleased. I was even more pleased that she responded afterwards positively and showed no signs of gastric upset. I am going to continue using this product to help control her stomach upset episodes. It can be used as a “gravy” mixed and put on food or by following the directions on the packaging to make mini kibble bites.

I have a 14-year-old Lhasa Apso. He is in pretty good health, just a little slow moving. I was offered a sample packet of EmerAid Sustain HDN. My dog ate it in his canned dog food good for a few days, then he started not wanting to finish his food. I tried it without it, and he ate all his food so good. I don't know what the flavor is supposed to be, but I don't think he likes the taste.
