Freshly opened bag (originally sealed) had awful smell, not like hay, not like mint. After taking the baling twine off if this very tiny bale of Timothy hay and setting it aside, we realized the odor of pesticide poison was coming from the twine. Hay wrapped with and sealed inside with this cannot possibly be remotely safe for consumption. Please, Lafeber, do due diligence with quality control and safe pet food practices.

This is a great hay product for guinea pigs to get their hay and also have an extra bit of surprise and a treat included. It adds a crunch and fun flavor that my piggies love(and is great for their teeth), extra foraging fun in addition to their usual hay pile, and it gives them something new to eat instead of basic hay. It’s also great to know it helps with their digestion/gut health, Guinea pigs need that extra support! Highly recommended to piggy parents, especially if they need an extra fiber boost for gut support!

You could certainly use it as just a treat though, and offer a handful a day! You can tell it’s high quality Timothy, and the treat crumbles inside is a plus. Would definitely encourage foraging. Wish they had big big bags!

I really wanted my guinea pigs to like the Lafeber Mint Berrie-Bale, but it just wasn’t a hit in our house. The pellets included in the mix were a no-go — my piggies wouldn’t touch them at all. They seemed okay with the hay portion, but they definitely prefer their regular Timothy hay. The concept is great, and maybe other piggies will enjoy it, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend it for mine.

Hay with ectras in it for Guinea pigs
My Guinea pig loves this hay with extras in it. He prefers it over the other hay i was giving him. He goes right to it when i put it in his cage. Definitely recommend

I used it as a daily treat for my guinea pig. I only have one so I give her a handful or two of this hay. My guinea pig seems to like it. She eats it up every time
