How is this car bed secured to the seat?

Fix one buckle to the back of the car seat and the other buckle to the top of the car seat and adjust the length of the straps based on your needs.

Our dog doesn't really like car rides. He whines and fusses and even while wearing a travel safety harness he tries to climb into the front seat and cries when he can't. We bought this in the hope that it would calm him and it did! We put it on the floor of the living room so he'd get used to it, and he crawled in and curled up. When he saw it in the car he hopped right in. It seemed to make him more secure and he didn't whine nearly as much. And he didn't try to climb into the front seat at all.

I've not had much luck finding a car seat for my Chiweenie. I thought this one would work out: it's soft, good sized, and easy to clip to the car's seat. But the clip-on safety leash snapped the first time we used it. My dog got a little excited when he saw where we were, and he tried to jump out of the seat before I could unbuckle him. The leash came right out of the back.

Flimsy and not functional

The car booster is not as pictured. The back side flops down, it doesn’t stay up. The buckle behind the plush cushion doesn’t work for back seats. It doesn’t shorten,

The car booster is not as pictured. The back side flops down, it doesn’t stay up. The buckle behind the plush cushion doesn’t work for back seats. It doesn’t shorten, it’s so long even at the shortest length, so it doesn’t keep this is in place at all. Would recommend Nandog brand instead.

The tether that attaches to the dog is only attached to the bed which doesn't securely attach to the vehicle. Its loose and flops around.

My dogs enjoyed the comfort of the seat beds!

This item was a good purchase. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I couldn't figure out how to tighten the straps enough to keep beds stationary.
