Does it require a charge for monitoring?

Answer by ChewyDec 25, 2023
This tracker does need to be charged. With some variance based on activity levels and network coverage, it stays charged for up to 14 days. It features secure, snap-in installation and simple removal for charging, which takes just a few hours.

I got the Link a year ago. I purchased it because my dog is off leash on my property and when there aren't other people around. I like to know where he is, even if he's just digging in the woods somewhere near me. Link is not the unit for that. If the tracker has been anywhere in the general vicinity of your phone or house "safe zone" in the last 10 minutes, location services are off, and when you try to open the map, it says "your dog is with you!" It may be a helpful unit for someone whose dog runs away, but was not helpful for my purposes. With him being off leash in the woods, he's often squeezing under brush. First I tried the clip it comes with, and he lost the unit within 30 minutes the first time I put it on his harness. Luckily I had been watching the area he was in, and the light/tone feature helped me find it when I got close enough (and it got dark enough). The elastic attachment was better and once I switched to that, he never lost it again. The unit doesn't use magnetic charging like most other waterproof units - it still uses micro-USB. My dog is in and out of the water and it stopped charging completely after about 9 months. I did give it 2 stars because I like the ability to turn the light on from the app if we are outside after dark, that you can change the heartbeat color and get different stickers to change the appearance, and I like that it tracked his activity.
