Anyone dissing these for "I just hung it up and my (insert small animal here) hasn't touched it in a week" has no clue about animal nutrition. ALL animals should have access to a salt lick. Don't grind it into or sprinkle on their food! Humans are the only animals that will eat salt to excess, all other creatures will use it when they need it! My guinea pigs & horses will go weeks without touching it and suddenly their body tells them "I NEED salt!" and they start licking away. Wildlife watchers will tell you there are spots where animals congregate (even insects!) around natural mineral sources. This isn't a "treat", it is a dietary necessity. Adding it directly to their food will cause them to eat less (salt is often added to "free-choice" livestock diets to prevent over-consumption of the diet, but this is carefully measured, don't do this with home pets).
i rlly wanted to like this but...
well, i ordered this because my bunnies needed the minerals and salt but they havent touched it since i got it a few days ago. but they need the minerals and salt so i grounded it into a powder and i mixed a tiny bit of them both into their food bowls and mix it with their food. it works and they are still getting the nutritions they need. but i dont really recommend this unless you wanna be grounding the salt and minerals
Broken product sent
This is the only mineral wheel Chewy is selling and is so overpriced at $3.60, but still least you get the metal clip to hang the wheel on. So I was not happy when I opened my package just now and I was sent a mineral wheel that is broken in half and is crumbling. Nothing else in the huge box is broken but this, meaning I was probably sent an already broken product. The wheel not able to hang up so it is pretty much worthless.
My rabbit won't even touch these
My rabbit is a 10 pound, male, New Zealand bunny and he does not want to even touch these. He has never even licked them. He only ever moves them out of his way.
Link lick, yum yum
My ladies and gentleman love their saltlwheels. I keep then stocked up.
not for guineas
Please dont buy for Guinea pigs, not sure about rabbits but piggies DONT need this.
I’ve purchased the Salt Lake’s before and those are the only ones that I use. I purchase them through chewy because I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Bunny needs its mineral great taste way to get them
Keeps your food and hay in one place. A lot less waste on the bottom of cage from keeping small bowels out of there. My guinea pigs seem to love it
Guinea Pig Approved
Purchased this for my guinea pigs. They don't use it a whole lot but I do see them licking it periodically and it's very cute when you catch them doing so. I definitely recommend it just for the cute factor when theyre licking it lol. I do think they enjoy licking it too !
