Always rinse filter media before use to remove excess dust. Black Diamond crackles and gets warm as it is being rinsed. This is normal, letting you know it's ready to go to work.
Use 8 tablespoons per 10 gallons of aquarium water.
Place in media bag or media basket and rinse thoroughly in cold water to eliminate dust particles.
Replace every 2 - 3 weeks (sooner if foul smells or water discoloration occur).
Note: Replacement frequency depends on fish population, waste loads, and water hardness.
Keep your system working smoothly with Marineland filters.

Well made my cat uses this in his cat box with his litter
Use in all my filters, turtle, fish, and even my pond filter. Only negative is you have to put them in filter bag or filter sock.
I only have two fish and a 20 gallon tank. However, they’re goldfish that continue to grow to be 7 inches so they put off a lot of ammonia and other kinds of water contaminants. If you were to look at my order status on Chewie you would find that I have tried 7 filter systems. I finally found a system that works for my tank. I use Whispers empty filters, and filled them with Carbon Filter Medium. I hot glue the filters closed and use them as I would other filters. I did do research On using the hot glue and found it is OK for aquariums. But if I were you, I would do research myself to find out what is safe for your aquarium. The water is amazing, I still change water every two weeks, half tank, but I think that’s because of “my paranoia“ of my fish not being able to breathe. I would recommend Carbon filter medium to anyone who is having trouble with the cleanliness of their water in their tanks. I would also recommend the Whisper empty filters to put that medium in.
I have used this in aquarium filter. It works real well to filter the water. I also use this in the catbox. Every time I scoop the cat box I put about 1/2 cup to 1 cup ,sprinkle over the top of the cat litter. It definitely helps absorb the smell of cat pee and poo.
O M G . . . works amazing for my CAT LITTER. Bought to mix in with the clumping cat litter to help with odor. Safe for the cats and better then purchasing yucky chemicals or fragrances.
Triple-A purchase! Excellent quality, price and delivery; will keep our 11 big koi in crystal clear water for a year. Very, very happy that we've found Chewy.
So I used everything under the sun to eliminate dog order smell in my yard. I sprinkled this down and within a hour the smell was gone. Thumbs up
I haven't used cause I don't have any way to test water.
I usually use Ammo-carb, but it has been unavailable for quite some time, so I decided to try this. It seems to have a bit less charcoal than the Ammo-carb, so I added some extra till the blend looked similar to what I've been using. It seems to work as well and for a lower price.
I’ve had my aquarium for several years and this product really helps keep my tank clean when changing my filter media
