Instructions

Always rinse filter media before use to remove excess dust. Black Diamond crackles and gets warm as it is being rinsed. This is normal, letting you know it's ready to go to work.

Use 8 tablespoons per 10 gallons of aquarium water.

Place in media bag or media basket and rinse thoroughly in cold water to eliminate dust particles.

Replace every 2 - 3 weeks (sooner if foul smells or water discoloration occur).

Note: Replacement frequency depends on fish population, waste loads, and water hardness.

  • Great For So Many Applications

I used to use baking soda for just about any kind of smell issue - litter boxes, fridge, laundry, even the diaper pail. I started using this stuff for the litter boxes because I noticed that zeolite and carbon are used in some deodorizers and litters. I love that it's more like pebbles than powder - so it doesn't add to the dust of the litter (cus let's face it, clay litter is ridiculously dusty). It works really well - much better than baking soda. The litter boxes are much more pleasant to clean (i mean, as much as it can be). I'm not hit with the smell of ammonia instantly upon scooping and it does seem to help keep the smell down between cleaning. I'm not hit with the smell of ammonia instantly upon scooping and it does seem to help keep the smell down between cleaning. I do use it like you should with a litter deoderizer - add a fair amount when replacing the litter and a little extra sprinkle when i add a little extra litter to the boxes. It works so well, in fact, that I've started adding it (still along with baking soda though, namely because of wetness) to the bottom of the diaper pail (my son wears cloth diapers, so it's three days of soiled diapers in a trash can with a wet bag liner.... as you can imagine, the third day (when they get cleaned) the pail can be pretty stinky). It helps keep the pail from building up a funk, and I just change out the media and baking soda about once a month when I give the pail a good washing. Glad I heard about this stuff and gave it a try. It's cheaper than litter deoderizer and works great. I just get the large size and it lasts me 1-2 months with two litter boxes (it might last other people longer, depending on how you clean your boxes and how often you replace the litter) and keeps my house from smelling like a rest stop bathroom. … more

  • Marineland Ammonia Neutrlizing is Great

I have used this product because when you have blood parrots and angelfish (freshwater) and the ammonia can get out of hand. I found on chewy a bigger size I still waiting on using.

I use this product for my aquatic turtle tank & it works better than anything else I have tried. It keeps my tank crystal clear and the water does not smell at all.

Product does help to clean and clear the tank water by filtering the ammonia and nitrogen-debris. If water is left to remain still or motionless the water is beautifully clear. But we have a very active turtle in the tank so the debris is always stirred up. The food tends to create more of the debris though.

  • This works

I actually use charcoal in our cat litter boxes..it helps with the odor. This works well, but I think that Marineland activated charcoal works better in dealing with amonia smells.

  • Convenient and effective

    By on

Carbon and zeolite are a necessary part of maintaining a healthy aquarium and having it already mixed is convenient. The carbon doesn't seem quite as dusty as the straight Marineland carbon.
