What size dog can this crate handle, we have a large dog.
Answer by ChewyApr 05, 2019
To select the best size for your dog we recommend that you measure the length of your dog from nose to tail. When measuring the length, be sure to add approximately 2-4 inches to the overall length, depending on the size of your dog. To determine the height of the crate you will need, measure your dog from the top of the head to the ground. If your dog has naturally erect ears, measure from the tip of the ears. To obtain the width of your crate, add approximately 2 inches for smaller breeds and 4 inches for larger breeds.

Almost perfect

Initially, this crate was everything I wanted! It is easy to put together, it looks gorgeous, and it seems very heavy duty and sturdy. However, mine came with a couple of exterior imperfections, and that does not make sense when you consider the high price tag. I shouldn’t have to repair brand new furniture.

Poor quality

The crate looks like it does in the photos and the door that slides out of the way is great. But the quality of the materials is bad. Straight out of the undamaged box, the finish was scraped away on several corners. The wooden dowels aren’t thick enough to get a bite and keep the particle board in place. And they don’t even extend 1/4” in to the second board—glue won’t help keep it together. I had to dig what I assume was sawdust out of one of the screw holes so the machine screw would go in. I would avoid the product. I’ll likely have to replace it by end of summer.

Not Sturdy

The crate looks lovely and latches well. Unfortunately, the bars are only soldered on rather than welded. Thus, my 19 pound poodle mix was able to bend the bars with his teeth to escape when we were out of the home for 2 hours. Would not order unless you have a tea cup size dog.

broke within a few months

Loved the look of this crate. It seems very stable and well made. But the door started braking within 2 months. Now the door has completely broken off and I'll have to purchase a new crate. Very disappointed because I love the look of it.

Perfect side table/storm haven

Purchased as a storm haven for the living room. Came two days early and was excellent quality for the price. We took the door off and put a Velcro cover on for the opening, she is so happy and feels safe for storms.

Well made looks great

I wanted something more attractive than a wire crate. Your dog does need to be crate trained as the latch is not the most secure and of course wood is chewable! But absolutely love it for my small pitbull who is well crate trained

Dog crate hotel

This has got to be the best dog crate/pet hotel. Love love it. It did take time to put it together but well worth it

Disappointed!! Poor Quality

We bought this crate to keep our 20 lb rat terrier in while we go out. At 18 mos, he still likes to tear up a good pillow. Used for the first time tonight for 4 hours while we went to an event and he was able to bend the bars, broke two off, and slipped out. This is NOT okay, especially for the price we paid! The quality of the product is questionable. The frame seems okay, but the bars can be bent (even by the dog), easily separated from the cross bars and apparently does not hold my dog. I feel like I was scammed and would NOT recommend this product to anyone! A sedentary dog may be fine, but if they are active, this is not the one for you. Buyer beware!

Too easy for dog to breakout

I just got this as a Christmas present and was so excited because our little rescue dog likes taking naps in her crate so the crate seemed like it was always out and in use whether we were home or not. So the idea of a crate that could also just be a part of the house furniture was appealing. I asked for this one in particular because of the sliding door. Our dog did fine the first day in it while we were at work, but on the second day she easily pulled a metal rod off and slipped through to get out. Really bummed about that. So this would be ok for people that just want a place for their dog to come and go but I can't recommend to actually leave your dog alone in this during the day.

Dog Crates

We have a puppy lab mix...10.5 pounds. Puppy scratched the bars til they came out. He also could "move" the bars to squeeze in/out of.. NOT PUPPY PROOF. All that $$ for a throw away.
