Good if mixed-
I tried this litter completely on its own when I was fostering kittens, and I will say that this is NOT suitable for kittens that are under 5 weeks because the litter will clump to their legs and little paws. I had to use warm water and a paper towel to get those off of them. After around 6 weeks, things got better, but I decided to mix this litter with some wood shredded litter and that has significantly helped the sticking. It still stuck sometimes, but it was much, much better than before. This 50% mix of wood and 50% mix with tofu litter is also what I use for my cat, and it has significantly help reduce tracking (actually, there is no tracking with 50/50 mixture) and helped with odor control. My past experience with *only* wood litter was that the wood would stink up and smell like, well, rotten wood, and it would track horrendously. By mixing this tofu litter in, not only has it reduced that smell, but the litter no longer tracks. I was originally thinkin about converting to this litter 100%, but I'm actually pretty happy with the 50/50 mixture I have, so I will keep that. If you're iffy about fully converting to this litter, I would say try a 50/50 mix with gradations in-between (first 25/75 then 50/50), then make a decision! I think this mix has been very beneficial since the past 8 months I've been using it.
Great Litter - Makes My Cat Mom Life Easier
I used to volunteer at local cat shelters and would clean a lot of cat litters several times a day. I wish that we had this type of litter. I have 2 cats, a shorthair tabby and a long hair (white) Persian. They both took to this litter right away. Over the years they had used pine pellets and recently we tried clumping wheat grass litter. The pine was okay, but I could tell they didn't like stepping on it. The wheat grass was too difficult to contain and it clings (too well) to the sides of the litter box. Scraping it off required a lot of elbow grease. I decided to try the tofu litter and it has worked out extremely well for both me and the cats. The pellets are thin, about the size of broken spaghetti. There is some dust but I like it because it coats their poop and helps to dry it out a bit if I don't get to scoop right away. I think the most contentious point is the clumping. It does not--even after an overnight 8 hour period--form a hard clump, like clay or grass litters. The clump is closer to a wet clay consistency. But, I prefer this because it removes easily from the sides of the box and any residue dissolves so easily that it allows me to "spot clean" that area instead of scrubbing out the entire litter box daily. I do not flush it down the toilet mainly because I don't think it is a good disposal practice for any cat litter. It has a very neutral smell and I scoop daily so the smell never bothers me. It doesn't seem to stick to my cats paws or their fur, even the longhair. Overall this is the best litter I have ever used. It may not be for everyone but it works for our home.
Not for me
I tried this particular type of litter for a couple of months and it was honestly just a miss for both me and my cats. Main points: Clumping: It definitely clumps, unfortunately due to the shape of the pellets it's impossible to remove clumps without removing a lot of "unused" litter as well. I also wouldn't recommend flushing the clumps. Odor neutralizing: Not at all, and this was one of the biggest issues for me. Within a couple of days it definitely smelled of urine. My two cats have 3 litter boxes to themselves and in maybe a week the urine smell was strong even outside of the room their litter boxes are in. So definitely not cost effective when you're dumping it out once a week to keep your house from smelling like cat urine. Low tracking: Definitely didn't track as bad as clay/crystal litter. So out of my three litter boxes I put the tofu litter in two of them and left the last as clay litter so they could adjust. They never once pooped in the tofu litter. I don't think they liked how it felt and thus didn't want to try burying their poo in it. I'm giving two stars for the clumping and not tracking but I definitely wouldn't buy this again.
Safe Cat Litter
When I learned that clay litter is not earth friendly and that the dust from clay litter is not good for my cats lungs, I searched and found this alternative. I am so happy!!!! Now I don’t have to pick up clay crystals from the floor and the dust is all gone. The other perk is now I don’t have to bag and trash the dirty litter - this one is flushable. I have three cats, all very different, yet all three have taken to it. I am very pleased and will continue to use it.
Sharing a small bathroom....
I share the small bathroom in my new home with 2 cats. Actually, they have 2 litter boxes, 1 in the bathroom, one hidden in a piece of "cat litter furniture". I've always used the disposable litter boxes; to me, the pee is absorbed into the litter or cardboard and not pooling on plastic stinking up the place. One litter box is in my very small bathroom, so I was in search of a flushable litter, which brought me to this. It's wonderful. I have the peach, it's a light peach smell.... and it's rather pretty when not pooped or peed in! And, I L-O-V-E that I can scoop and flush. I check it several times a day, and have had no "mud" or stickiness. I think it also has to do with my using the cardboard boxes and not plastic. While I love it, only 1 of my 2 cats love it. I'm still hoping cat #2 comes around, but so far he's sniffed, but ultimately goes in the clumping litter that is still in the other litter box. Even if he sticks to clumping, I still have less work and less stink. Please come around, cat #2...
My cat loves it !
I've tried all types of Cat litter before and nothing fits my cat like Michu Tofu Cat litter. Not only it covers the smells perfectly but the scents that comes with it was refreshing. I purchased 5 different scents and my cat loves the greentea scents! Will definately recommend buying this again!
Michu Natural Clumping Tofo Cat Litter is absolutely wonderful! Green tree is beautiful, very soft and light fragrance. Of course, I find something I love and it is sold out! I resorted to watermelon since it was the last remaining scent and it’s ok but the clumping is great. Definitely need to clean everyday or every other since clumping is immediate don’t want to wait any longer. Now, it says dust free and still trying to figure that out with this brand and many others what their definition of dust free is but the fact my 3 kitties (I have 4 litter boxes) are no longer sneezing and my allergies is loving it I can compromise. Great product, please get more back on the shelf!!
This cat litter is the best I have ever used. I feel very excited to use it. The fact that when it is discarded into the toilet, it falls apart and is easily flushed. Thank you Michu!!!!
Really easy to use!!!
I wanted to test the theory that it would last a whole month and I was NOT disappointed! This stuff is amazing! It seems expensive at first but when I factor in how much litter I used changing the litter box 1-2 times a week, it’s actually cheaper! On subscription now and will never go back to anything else! Seriously try it out. You won’t be disappointed
Love this littler! Can Chewy bring it back!???? It is low dust! It is 100% dust free when it’s newly open, after a while it does have a bit of dust but hey! which brand that says dust free is really 100% no dust? This tofu littler is already doing a great job! Many people say it’s muddy. I would recommend you to clean the littler box after a while after your cat pee. then the littler will dry up and it will be so easy to clean. My cat is almost 5, and we tried so many types of littler. This is the best one so far!
