Questions & Answers

9 Customer Questions

How is this product washed? Is it by taking off the cover or wash whole thing?
Answer by Chewy • Jul 18, 2017
This bed is machine washable for easy cleaning.

Why is it coated in Teflon? Wouldn’t this pose a health hazard to my pet and myself? My dog loves this style of bed, but I’m concerned about Teflon. Is the cover my dog sleeps on coated in Teflon or is it the inside foam that’s Teflon coated?
Answer by Chewy • Apr 16, 2021
Teflon makes the cover water, stain and odor resistant. It is not a health hazard. This bed is not suited for dogs with a behavior of chewing.

I have two Beagles. What would be the ideal size for them?
Answer by Chewy • Aug 24, 2019
We recommend measuring your pet to find the perfect bed size. Pets who curl up to sleep can fit on a smaller bed, while pets who stretch out need a larger bed. To determine the ideal bed length, measure your pet in his or her normal sleeping position, then add 4-6 inches for cats and small dogs, or 8-12 inches for medium to large dogs. When in doubt, we suggest ordering the bigger size.

Is the 42" brown dog bed packaged in a box ready to use or is it folded in half and has to be reshaped?
Answer by Chewy • May 16, 2019
This pet bed is packaged as is, however if folded it doesn't need to be reshaped.

Very small doggie bed

This bed fits our 6.6lb Chihauhua just right!! He hopped right in and I tossed the nasty old one in the trash when he wasn't looking. :) Like the washable cover.

This one lasts

This is the 2nd one that I have purchased. The 1st one lasted 5 years. That's remarkable for a dog bed. My dog doen't like new things so getting the same one did not cause any problems.

Dogs and Cats Love It!

This is the second MidWest QuietTime Defender Orthopedic Bolster Cat & Dog Bed w/Removable Cover, Brown that I have bought from Chewy. The first one was a little larger, maybe 29 inches, and my two cats shared it. This 22-inch model is perfect for a newly adopted senior terrier mix. She is 13 pounds, and fits this 22-inch bed just fine. The lower chin rest/entry is appreciated, and the removable cover is easy to machine wash and dry. You can also easily install a pet heating pad under the zip cover if you need extra warmth.

Bed heaven

My 16 year old has never slept in any bed I bought for my younger boy until this bed.

Wonderfully Warm and Comfy

My cat just got in the bed immediately and stayed all day - she loved it from the "get go." The bed is warm and cushy. Very luxurious!

NOT waterproof!

The foam appears to be just egg crate foam. We bought this bed for our elderly dog which had become somewhat incontinent. For the first few accidents, it did not leak, but then there was not a whole lot of liquid. The last accident, she really went. And the liquid ran right through the cover (top and bottom) and bed leaving a wet floor. She seemed to like the bed, but, if you're considering it for the waterproofing, it is not worth the investment!

One year later.. still going strong

Very pleased with this bed. I got it for my dog over a year ago and it is still in great shape. The foam has not deformed or sank, the cover is washable and easy to clean (and water resistant so spills are easily cleaned up without damaging the interior). It has withstood his digging phase and he still loves to curl up in it. It's light and easy to transport, and you can roll it up/fold it without it losing its shape. It's helped with car rides and outdoor dining. Would highly recommend.

very thin!

Use to order these beds a few years back from Fosters and Smith, which was taken over by Chewy. These beds have NO SUPPORT whatsoever! The foam is very thin and cheap! Will not purchase again! For being "orthopedic" they are just your everyday foam you can purchase anywhere.

Not very sturdy

The bolster is not very firm and collapses when my dog rests her head. The bottom has little traction and tends to slide. The sherpa is soft and looks very comfortable.
