For safety purposes, MidWest recommends removing your dog’s collar, harness or leash before placing them in their dog crate. Monitor your pet during the first few days of crate training to ensure that they are adapting well to their new home.
To protect the finish your crate and the bottom pan, use only mild, non-abrasive cleaners and water. Any coarse scrubbing or abrasive materials could damage finish.

Relatively quick shipping. The 42” crate is HEAVY! It comes with handles, but it’s not what I’d call easily portable. Luckily, I plan to just leave to in one place. Before I purchased, I read a ton of reviews noting MidWest is no longer maintaining the same level of high quality as years past, and I have to agree. However, I also didn’t see any new comparable alternatives at this price point that have any better reviews, so I rolled the dice and ordered it anyway. It did come out of the box with one of the hooks broken, but the crate still holds together for now, even without it. I have my fingers crossed that our rescue doesn’t have severe separation anxiety. This crate probably wouldn’t hold up to a dog in a panic-attack state. This crate is “good enough” for now.
Almost every one of my dog cages have been Midwest. (& I've gotten quite a few cages over time, cause of of my dogs has a tendency to bend the bars after having the cage for long enough.) But this is the first time I've had any complaints. I'm moving, so I ordered this cage and had it delivered to my new house. I took it out of the box and set it up when it was delivered. One of the locks won't work cause it's not lined up correctly. There are gaps that shouldn't be there. It's bent in a couple spots. & There were a couple other issues that will be a bit difficult for me to explain, so add pictures as well. But due to the issues with the cage I will not put my dogs in it. Cause I know it not going to hold up.
Overall the crate is fine now that it is assembled. Unfortunately, it came with bent parts that would not sync easily. My son who is in construction rigged it and now it is fine but it should not have been so challenging. I really like the quality.
My puppy's breeder recommended this crate, and it does not disappoint. It is sturdy but easy to set up and the finish is attractive. My other dog immediately decided it was "hers" so I will have to order another one!
Have had Midwest crates in the past and this one is just as good, if not better. Easy to put together, sturdy and just what I wanted. Our 85# rescue dog has separation anxiety and creates mayhem when left alone. Have had to clean up numerous torn up items. Now I can rest easy when I have to leave him, knowing he and everything else are safe.
Crate works fine, I have extra large dogs and have had these crates before, they stand up to the dogs antics.
Arrived in 5 days. It's box was retaped. Nice quality none the less. Very strong heavy wire. We are pleased! So far so good. We use the puppy barrier and it's holding up. Will update as time goes on.
The kennel is strong and with a little effort can be put together by 2 people. The 2 doors are an excellent addition.
We received this promptly. Its setup was easy and intuitive, and the connections are of good quality.
Chewy.com, as always, was excellent in providing a speedy delivery as promised. The crate appears to be very sturdy, the wire gauge is thicker than most. I am giving this crate a 4 star rating instead of 5 because there are a couple of defects in the manufacturing of this product. Where the top part of the kennel attaches to the end there is a bow which can not be bent or adjusted to fix it. The length of the panel itself is the problem. The other defect is related to the entry door on the long side of the kennel. The door does not close tightly to the kennel structure. There is some play where there should not be. The bottom latch has a bend in the wire which if adjusted would negatively impact the ability to latch the door. All in all I think it is excellent as far as sturdiness. At this time it will serve it's purpose and keep the pup contained. I am a little disappointed it wasn't perfect as this product is supposed to be top of the line.
