About This Item

Details

Milk Thistle/SAMe Compounded oral liquid is an oil-based preparation. It is a combination of supplements that helps maintain healthy liver function. An active part of an extract from milk thistle, known as silybin, and has been shown to support liver function by helping maintain a healthy oxidative balance. SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine) has been shown to markedly increase liver levels of glutathione, an important compound for liver health formed when SAMe is metabolized. SAMe has also been shown to help protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and regeneration. The dose of compounded Milk Thistle is labeled as the total amount of Milk Thistle, which contains approximately 30% silybin. Milk Thistle/SAMe Compounded oral liquid is made specifically for your pet.

The pharmacist was unable to tell me when the bottle I have now, expiring on 2/1/26, was made. She said she couldn't tell me because she didn't have the lot#. I provided a lot# from my bottle. Instead of answering the question, I was offered a free bottle. This evaded my question. As Chewy should know, SAMe starts to degrade right away. Chewy makes it in large batches. Chewy will sell old SAMe that is no longer at its full potency. A free bottle of medication of unknown potency is not worth anything to my pet. I switched to a pharmacy that makes the batch to order, uses food grade corn oil as a carrier Instead of fish oil, which helps the SAMe keep its potency. Chewy wants to be cheap so they can profit. So they make big batches and the customer isn't always getting freshly made. And the pharmacist telling me she didn't have the lot number, then not provided a date when it was made but offering a free bottle is sketchy. The record keeping is very sloppy. And if that's sloppy, what else is? No thanks. I'm going somewhere else. Chewy might be good for other pet meds, pre-made from the manufacturer, but I have no confidence in their compounding pharmacy.

Finding Milk Thistle/SAM-e compounded has been a great solution. Max likes the chicken flavor and getting him to take the supplement has been so much easier.

Easy to administer

Gracie refuses pills and needs this compound while she is on chemo. This is easy to give her and it is only a small amount daily.

My dog would not take the pill form. This liquid I can put in her food and she eats it.

Good for lab scores

The lab scores say it all, almost. Only drawback is that neither the chicken flavor or the beef flavor have been a hit. So thumbs down on the flavor. But the liquid
