I got this cover to minimize the number of times my dog wakes up in the middle of the night. I assume that incoming light from the window bothers her. Since getting this cover, she wakes up much less frequently. That said, the fabric is kind of thin and more light passes through than I expected. It is not thick like a 'black-out' curtain
