Is the thyroid fully removed from these?

Natural Farm retrieves their raw materials directly from farms and transport them in their own temperature-controlled trucks. What they retrieve is pre-cleaned, but they also inspect all materials and clean them once again as soon as they arrive at their human-grade, USDA- and FDA-approved facilities, and they also put them through a metal detector. It is very important to us that what they sell is exactly what they say it is, so these are made from 100% beef trachea that is free of hormones, antibiotics, and thyroid tissue. The thyroid tissue itself is what may contain thyroid hormones that could potentially cause hyperthyroidism in some dogs. Furthermore, once their products are finished baking, they send samples from every single batch to a lab to be tested for contamination (such as salmonella) before releasing them for distribution.

Are these treats considered freeze-dried, air-dried, dehydrated, or roasted? At what temperature is the treat exposed to create shelf stability?

These treats are air-dried at about 190 F for a couple of days to remove the moisture.

This brand's products are free from chemical treatments and irradiation. They are washed with pure, distilled water and then slowly baked in an oven to eliminate moisture and retain nutrients.

This product caused severe stomach irritation for our dog. He is supervised when eating ‘treats’ like pizzle sticks or tracheas. Although beef trachea is technically digestible, it digested very slowly and led to vomiting, dehydration, and bloody bile, requiring IV fluids at the vet. Please supervise closely and be aware that this chew can cause serious GI upset.

Good treat but loud

Tried these but they are really loud. Can’t use them for a work call. Cooper loved them and digested them well. As a side note they also look pretty creepy!

Did something change?

We have purchased these numerous times.. typically break the 12in in half for our large pit mix and she loves them. The bag we received recently were much darker

Great for Aggressive chewers!

These are not odor free, but they're not real stinky either, they are a little greasy to the touch, but not a big deal. You won't smell them while your dogs are

These are not odor free, but they're not real stinky either, they are a little greasy to the touch, but not a big deal. You won't smell them while your dogs are working on them. We love these for our two German Shepherds; they get a really good chew out of them. One trachea lasts about 7 minutes. Great for Aggressive chewers.

She loves these.

And, she devours them pretty quickly. They are hard and kind of sharp. I saw a little bit of blood on it. Probably cut her gums. But, she kept chewing.
