Not my favorite for a lick mat, but it works once frozen. Might try buying a single can in a different flavor to see if it's just this recipe.

Its like pate. Not sure how it's cooked but don't think at a high heat because it's all whole foods for nutrients, no synthetic vitamins and minerals. Perfect for maggies sensitivities and she loves it!!! Great poops, nutrients dense with no fillers, grains, or legumes, so poop is small.

Decent Quality

This is one of the better canned foods on the market. Our dog loves the taste and all the varieties that they offer.

we were slowly switching our dogs over to the NL Pork because they had been on the NL Turkey for many years. But our girl got an allergy to turkey so we switched to the pork. We went VERY slow. While doing the change over we started noticing loose stools a bit. By the time we totally switched over our boy...then the girl both got raging diarrhea. The odd part being that these two dogs are not related. So how could they both get this reaction to a dog food. Again we had gone much longer than most to switch over. I did contact NL thinking perhaps there is a food borne illness, that something was wrong with the food. They did take the information to "look into the matter" but i never heard from them again. I guess they really won't check anything unless other dogs become ill. Oh well....We started switching them to the NL Venison and all went very well (except the Venison when not on sale is $70 plus dollars for 12. we will not be able to afford that since my husband and i are both disabled vets. but we will see. Meanwhile, no pork for our furbabies.

I look for companies (and there are few) who do not use artificial vitamins & minerals but use real food to provide these necessary nutrients. When I switched to this type of food for my cat, her severe tooth resorption totally went away and I believe it is the natural source of calcium from this type of food.

My Dog Loves It

She is allergic to most meats. She enjoys the taste and her digestive system appears to process the food very well.

I have a soft coated Wheaten Terrier, a breed that is known for having sensitive digestion. My dog does well on a diet with 7% fat or less. This brand has fairly good ingredients, with no gums, which make my dog's stools loose. The fat content in this food says 4%, and it is usually fat that causes problems for him, mainly IBS that can lead to pancreatic flares. I introduced this slowly, but he never adjusted to it, so I donated what was left to the Humane Society.
