Does this food have enough vitamins for their coat?
Answer by ChewyMar 01, 2018
Salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which support the immune system, may decrease inflammation, and can keep your dog’s coat looking shiny and healthy.

Where is the salmon for this food coming from? And is it farmed or wild caught?
Answer by ChewyFeb 23, 2023
Nature's Recipe sources ingredients from various places. They source ingredients from North America but will also source internationally if the situation demands it, due to the inconsistent availability of ingredients. Regardless of location, all ingredients are inspected to ensure they meet our high-quality standards. Due to the need for a consistent fish supply, their fish is both wild-caught and farm-raised.

Are the peices small enough for small dogs like Yorkie puppies to eat?
Answer by ChewyJul 12, 2018
The kibbles are approximately a quarter inch wide.

Does the food smell fishy and subsequently will the dogs have fish breath?
Answer by ChewyMay 31, 2019
Depending on the quantities of fish based ingredients used, it can cause a fishy smell.

Awesome value

Our girl, Bella has allergies and I have come to find out Salmon dog food is good for her. The pumpkin in this food is also great for her stomach and intestines. She eats this brand of dog food better than any other and believe me we have tried them all. The other awesome thing is the price is reasonable. She is so precious to us and I am glad I have found this brand of dog food. I recommend this food because she is so picky and she eats this food every day unlike any other food.

Beware of bones

This particular food is loaded with large fish bones, sometimes up to twice the length of the food nugget itself. One of the five dogs that was eating this food is a Chihuahua Pug mix and twice had oddly unexplained coughing spells for close to 24 hrs at a time. The first time she (and I) was up an entire night trying to comfort her. Eventually it supsides but it is very scary and if there are other health issues it may worsen those. Avoid this food at all costs.

Only thing they'll eat.

My cat and dog refuse to eat anything other than this. They won't even touch their food bowls when i try to mix in the bags of quality cat food that i was trying not to waste. Both are in great health, so now shopping and feeding is easier.

Grain Free and Tasty

Our little doxie was started out on sweet potato and salmon. He continues to prefer it to other flavors. And he usually will try to eat anything including asphalt on his walks. He likes the crunch and it's gone in just a few minutes.

Dogs like it

My dogs seem to like the food and we've had no fallouts from the change of food. We bought another kind and my dogs must have put on five pounds in one month! That is not okay, they are only three, don't need to be overweight. This food has given them energy and kept them at their normal weight.

Excellent Dry Food

Our dogs LOVE this food and have been eating it for years. We have NEVER seen a "fish bone" in this food. Ridiculous. Thank you, Nature's Recipe! :)

The dog eats better than we do

I am a PhD researcher, so I put those skills to use and found this to be the best for dogs with allergies and liver issues. Cleared the problems right up, as lab tests proved.

Natures Recipe cured my dog!

My mixed breed Pitbull had started to scratch a lot behind the ears, she licked her paws a lot and got an ear infection, she had a dull coat and stomach issues and my vet recommended trying Natures Recipe grain free Salmon/sweet potato dog food. Within 2 weeks all her issues were gone! No medication needed! I highly suggest this food for anybody experiencing similar issues with their dog, no matter what breed it may be.

Dogs love it

Our dogs developed a poultry allergy so we had been feeding Nature's Recipe Large Breed Chicken...easiest change over to this one. We just had to change the protein to Salmon. We chose Nature's Recipe because of the ingredients...they removed the green peas (which dogs ARE NOT supposed to have) and feweat recalls of other brands. Besides the girls LOVE it.
