Will this help with supporting our Great Dane puppy’s shaking front legs

It is recommended to remove the brace every 3-4 hours to let the leg to breathe, do not keep the brace on overnight.

Can this weaken the legs at all?

Answer by ChewyMar 14, 2024
The leg braces are meant to aid in the healing process and facilitate mobility. They provide support to injured or weakened legs, allowing them to recover more effectively. Contrary to concerns, using leg braces appropriately shouldn't weaken the legs. Instead, they offer support that can aid in rehabilitation and prevent further injury during the healing process. While the leg braces are helpful, prolonged use without breaks can have negative consequences. It's advised to follow a schedule of wearing them for a few hours and then taking them off for a similar duration. This allows the muscles to engage and function naturally, preventing dependency on the braces. It's emphasized not to wear the leg braces overnight. This is crucial for allowing the legs to rest and recover naturally during sleep, without the support of the braces. Overall, following these guidelines can promote a more effective healing process and prevent potential complications associated with prolonged brace use. It's important to consult with a vet for professional advice regarding the use of the leg braces based on your pet’s needs and circumstances.

One of my dogs has recently started having problems with his front legs becoming weak. He developed hip dysplasia about a year ago, and I bought a brace from Chewy (called the Walkabout) to use for when I take him for short walks. It works great! He actually goes to where I keep it by the and looks at it when he wants to go for a walk. He knows it helps him walk better. However, the recent problems with both his front legs giving out from under him have me stumped. I ordered these, believing they would help, but they didn't help alleviate the problem at all. They have had no helpful effect at all. I'm not saying that they won't benefit other dogs. They just didn't help my fur baby.

My 95lbs pitbull loves chewy indestructible ball but loves it so much his legs got raw spots. Not wanting him to stop playing I thought of these,so he loves them so much he raises his paws so I will put them on,then away he goes after that amazing indestructible ball.playing ball has helped him loose weight, and gives him the exercise he needs.I recommend these for support from injuries or just to protect legs from ruff play like my nico does.
