    Mixed reviews, frustrated.

So...I researched & researched dog houses for our 7yr old 60# lab shepherd mix. We adopted her 5yrs ago from a hoarding case that came into our local shelter. She is extremely timid in new situations as she was living in small outdoor kennels with over 30 other dogs. How very sad. Despite our trying to keep her inside she is truly an outdoor dog, she shuts down inside afraid to walk across linoleum etc etc lays for hrs at the back door wanting to go back out and just becomes so depressed. So she has a fenced in backyard that she is happy in and comes to life in! We wanted a new dog house and I researched every brand reading every review. So she has a fenced in backyard that she is happy in and comes to life in! We wanted a new dog house and I researched every brand reading every review. I knew we needed something with a wide opening as she's afraid of confined spaces. I decided on this house but was alittle reluctant having such a large item shipped afraid of the condition it may arrive in as I had read horror stories on other sites of large items arriving badly damaged. I chatted with a Chewy member & felt reassured the house should arrive well packaged. There was a slight delay in delivery and when it did arrive had minor damage in transit with a couple broken pieces. My husband wasn't too happy but the pieces were not visible from the outside and did not affect the structure, the one hole was only through the first panel and had not punctured all the way through. He wanted me to contact manufacturer for those two replacement pieces which I had planned to do. He easily assembled the house in about an hour. The directions are easy and everything is well numbered. We do recommend assembling on a FLAT surface which makes it much easier, we assembled it in our living room, just measure your doorways to make sure you can get it outside once assembled. We were very pleased with it and I put a new orthopedic bed inside and she readily went in and was a happy a camper.. Until...it rained the next day, not a heavy downpour or storm but a summer shower and the inside was soaked from front to back! She was wet and the memory foam bed was saturated. So very disappointed! We were in the process of putting up a new sun sail shade over it but have now put up a tarp over her new house under the shade sail until we can get her a new house. What a waste of over $200.. we've contacted a friend who is in construction and he's going to build her a house. So by the time we pay for lumber plus his cost and what we've spent on this house we're out several hundred dollars which is a bummer because this house had all we were looking for until we saw how badly it leaked. If you're looking for a house to put in a garage or under a structured roof then I think you'll be pleased. Other than that it will not withstand any wet weather. As always we're still loyal Chewy customers and will continue to be as this was no fault of theirs. … more

    Not for large dogs.

    By on

This is the second ecoflex dog house purchased. It was fairly easy to assemble. Similar to a large plastic Lincoln-log set. It’s not very sturdy for its size. Some pieces where plastic screws hold, crack. I have arthritis and am not over tightening. It’s definitely not air tight. But does provide some shelter for our warmer humid Texas climate. I won’t be painting. Can’t see how paint will hold up to plastic material expanding and contracting. (I have purchased a medium for our feral cats. It’s much better in a smaller size. Door bought separately, from tractor supply. Its on our covered screened in porch. During these cooler weeks we put a heating pad w/bed purchased @Chewy. Overall, this extra large dog house is too flimsy for our 80lb Labrador who’s active and chews. He would destroy it. I will keep it for our “medium” 30lb senior pug. She likes it. Overall I don’t recommend this dog house for a large or extra large dog. Plastic is too flimsy and cracks. I hope the manufacturer can beef it up. I like the ease of assembly and Chewy’s free delivery. … more

    Aussie dog's new chew toy

    By on

Pieces are cheap, provided protection while it lasted. They just sit into each other with no real support. Dog chewed corner roof in one day and without it, all roof panels slide right off. Would not buy again.

Probably the biggest size commercial built home but

    By on

It’s still not very big. I put it together it was pretty much step by step. If it’s in one place it’s Sturdy enough. My dog is already chewing it apart though. But the second dog is leaving it alone(I bought two). I put insulation board in the bottom to firm it up, it’s not a thick material and can see it being cold. The dogs I have in it are only 80-85lbs akitas. My 110 pound male wouldn’t be able to fit comfortably in there. The houses are located under a dry shelter so I’m not sure about water proofing or rain/snow .

Cool new house for your dog

    By on

Once we read the instructions and discovered everything was a letter or number, it went together in less than an hour. Good height and large opening gives dog a great feel of space, Well made too and weather proof.

    Purchased Doghouse

    By on

I looked at many doghouses before I purchased this one. This doghouse has been great for my outside Labrador. I worried that he would not use it but after I assembled it he slept in the first night. He has been in it ever since. This doghouse will not disappoint you. I would definitely purchase this house again.

So easy a 10 year old can do it!

    By on

The house is exactly as described. I have a 75lb Germna Shepherd and it holds him just fine. Putting it together was simple, my 10 year old did it.
