About Outward Hound Puzzle Toys for Dogs

Healthy Playtime Problem Solving

Did you know that 15 minutes of mental exercise can have a similar effect on your dog’s emotional well-being as 30 minutes of physical exercise? Dogs love to explore and problem solve and will use their noses and paws as tools. Each Nina Ottoson puzzle toy game is designed with your dog’s natural behaviors, senses and safety in mind.

Reduce Unwanted Behaviors

Setting your dog to work on a puzzle or game helps focus his attention and energy. This mental redirection can help reduce boredom, anxiety and destructive behaviors, too. Try using puzzle toys to distract your dog from fireworks, thunderstorms and other stressful situations.

Four Levels of Play

All dogs are different. That’s why each treat puzzle toy was designed with a different level of difficulty—to please dogs of all skill levels, whether they are beginners or puzzle-solving pros. Start by choosing a level that suits your pup’s skill set and level up as he learns!

Level 1

Perfect for beginners, these puzzles help gain interest and prepare dogs for puzzles to come.

Level 2

Features added obstacles, requiring your dog to combine actions to retrieve each tasty reward.

Level 3

These advanced puzzles challenge your dog to complete several steps in order to reach the hidden treats.

Level 4

This is the hardest level and requires multiple steps and problem-solving skills to solve!

For Bonding and Training

Nina Ottosson puzzle games are a great way to build your relationship with a newly adopted dog or help a shy dog come out of his shell. You can also use puzzles to help train your dog and practice basic commands like “sit” and “stay”.

Did not work for my dog

My dog just ended up destroying this and chewing the clear top off. She is 65 pounds and a German Shepherd Pitt Bull mix, so a pretty heavy chewer. She kept flipping

My dog just ended up destroying this and chewing the clear top off. She is 65 pounds and a German Shepherd Pitt Bull mix, so a pretty heavy chewer. She kept flipping the game upside down too, and didn't really understand it. Might work for a different dog. But it just made mine frustrated and chew the clear top off.

Works for my puppy

Initially, my little guy was frustrated with this wobble feeder, but then I realized I didn't have the food holes in the right place. It's important to make sure

Initially, my little guy was frustrated with this wobble feeder, but then I realized I didn't have the food holes in the right place. It's important to make sure the lid is on correctly, because my puppy was able to get it off when it wasn't. It's very durable and I will definitely use this in rotation with his puzzles and so on.

Good for advanced puzzle solvers!

My dog PJ is an advanced and rough puzzle solver. He solves this one by turning it upside down so it doesn’t wobble then nudges it until the food comes out lol

My dog PJ is an advanced and rough puzzle solver. He solves this one by turning it upside down so it doesn’t wobble then nudges it until the food comes out lol. I like that’s it’s made of materials suitable for dogs who try all sorts of tactics (ie: clawing and flipping). Worth the money (~$10 on sale) and it’s the quality you’d expect in a $20-25 range slow feeder.

Didn’t last

Maybe my dog just cheated, but he slammed it on the ground and got the top part off, which defeated the purpose of the toy. Once he did that it wont stay on wel

Didn’t work for us

Bought this for our 4.5 month old pup who likes to eat like it’s a competition, fed him with it once and he figured out how to pop the entire lid off. Thought maybe

Bought this for our 4.5 month old pup who likes to eat like it’s a competition, fed him with it once and he figured out how to pop the entire lid off. Thought maybe it was a fluke but he’s been able to do it pretty easily multiple times now.

Simple toy, no complaints

When this first arrived, it didn't have the clear plastic lid. Chewy sent a replacement, which arrived a couple of days later. Since then we've used this wobble

When this first arrived, it didn't have the clear plastic lid. Chewy sent a replacement, which arrived a couple of days later. Since then we've used this wobble bowl to give our puppy his midday meal on alternating days with a Freezebone to keep things interesting. It works as described and doesn't seem to have any issues with various kibble sizes. 10/10

Slow feeder and game.

It's pretty sturdy. I think the price point is a bit high, but I had a $20 off for purchases over a certain amount so we got it.

Cheaply made and flimsy.

The clear plastic top always pops off and then all the treats scatter. My least favorite of all the puzzle toys.
