Both of my dogs love this product. We have a lot of the Nina Ottosson puzzles and this has quickly become a favorite. It's fun, engaging, and they love the act of spinning something. Of course with any puzzle like this you want to make sure you SUPERVISE your dog as the puzzle is not meant to be chewed. When used properly this has created a lot of fun for my dogs. My only complaint is the inside ridges could be a bit more shallow as it's hard to get the last remaining treats/kibble out and I always open it and empty it by the time they are at that point.
Both of my pups LOVE this puzzle feeder. They were both able to figure out the concept of how to use it very quickly, yet it still keeps them engaged. I initially brought this one for my 15 month old pup and a different one for my 12 month old pup, but I will likely have to purchase another one because they are both afraid of the other one and fight over this one.
This product did not work for my 1 year old Golden. He has decent paw and moth touch skills, but he immediately was able to dismantle the spinning container using his nose. It was not challenging for him and I worried he could unscrew the sides and ingest the parts.
As the other reviewer described, this feeder would need improvements for it to be useful. It is difficult to get all the food out whether it spins fast or slow. The outside rungs make it difficult to spin a bit. The food almost always falls out closest to the spinner and rarely makes it down into the lower 'bowl' area. Normal-sized kibble bits can fall right below the spinner and make it difficult to spin. Overall, great idea, but definitely needs updating for it to be practical and work. I love Ottoson products, but I recommend giving this one a skip.
The idea of this is great and my dog got it right away. However, even with me spinning & spinning, it took forever to get all the food out. It gets stuck on kibble if it goes backwards, and the structure inside is flawed. The plastic sticking down between the sections are too long or go too deep, so the food gets stuck between them and rarely goes to the holes. Maybe 2 sets of holes would be better.
