Questions & Answers

11 Customer Questions

Are any of the ingredients sourced from China? Thanks.

Answer by ChewyNov 19, 2019
Nulo's meat, poultry, and fish are sourced from North America, with the exception of some of their duck (France), lamb (Australia & New Zealand), and wild-caught fish (regions can vary based on the migratory path of the wild population). Their fruits, vegetables, vitamins, and minerals are sourced in North America as well as regions throughout the world, but are always traced and required to meet strict safety and quality standards. None of Nulo’s ingredients are sourced from China, with the exception of select vitamin supplements that can only be sourced from there.

Is the miscanthus grass grown without using pesticides and chemicals?

Answer by ChewyJul 03, 2019
The miscanthus grass in this formula is 100% natural, non-GMO, and non-chemically produced. Miscanthus grass is added to select Nulo dry recipes as a source of insoluble fiber.

Do both bag sizes have a resealable opening?

Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2019
These dog food bags are not resealable.

How long does the food stay fresh once the bag is opened?

Answer by ChewyDec 17, 2020
Once the bags are opened, as long as the bags are stored properly, the food should stay fresh for 2-3 months. It's recommend storing food in its original packaging and closing the top with a clip, or placing the bag inside of an airtight container. Food should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Nulo Bag Ripped

The package contents came in a shambles. Bag Ripped, box open, smashed contents. What happened to Chewy? They used to be better than this. Good quality dog food

It was a healthier choice for my pets who have sensitivities

It appeared one of my dogs has an allergy to chicken. Their dry food was chicken based. But my dogs eat Turkey wet food so I thought they would like turkey dry food

It appeared one of my dogs has an allergy to chicken. Their dry food was chicken based. But my dogs eat Turkey wet food so I thought they would like turkey dry food. Unfortunately neither one of them would eat it. They wouldn’t even like it after smelling it. Not sure why?! I’m going to look into lamb dry food to see if they will be interested in that next. Giving the bag to another family for their dogs to eat.

Great ingredients, but perhaps not so tasty

The food we have always fed our pups (Instinct original grain-free chicken-based small breed kibble) was recently discontinued. It is never fun having to transition dogs to a new food, but we had no choice. I picked another chicken-based grain-free kibble (Purina Pro Plan), but by the time we got to a 50/50 mix of old and new, one of my dogs was scratching like crazy. She seemed miserable. Our vet said she was likely having a reaction to the fillers in the new, lower quality food. So we had to switch AGAIN. I chose this food shown because of the pure and gut-friendly ingredients. It’s a high quality food! And the scratching stopped almost immediately! But now she’s refusing the food. And she has never rejected a kibble! If you buy this food for your pup(s), I suggest getting a small bag to start, to ensure they’ll eat it. In our experience, it was not appealing to our pup :/ Two stars because of the quality of the food. Too bad I have to donate it. It’s pricey!

Great dried food

This is my back up if I ever forget to buy the Nulo freeze dried food or I can’t find it. They both like this food as well

Only food that doesn't make my dog thow-up

Just hate that Chewy uses FedEx instead of UPS due to their overly hot interiors.

FedEx/overheated products delivery

Products from Chewy always an issue because of their contract with FedEx and the poor temperature control/delivery truck problem they have. Something you don't want

The lack of a foul smell

My dog had terrible skin allergies so I started him in Nulo. Within weeks I am seeing amazing progress. He did not LOVE the food at first, but that's due to change

My dog had terrible skin allergies so I started him in Nulo. Within weeks I am seeing amazing progress. He did not LOVE the food at first, but that's due to change. He only eats it now, and it's doing his diet wonders and he does not mind it. Plus, other brands of both dog and cat food have an 'odor' like cardboard. This dog food does not smell at all which tells you something. Two thumbs up.
