FreeStyle Small Breed Salmon & Red Lentils Recipe is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO dog food nutrient profiles for all life stages, expect for growth of large size dogs (70 lb. or more as an adult).
When first introducing your pet to Nulo, we recommend slowly transitioning over the course of 5 to 7 days to reduce the risk of digestive upset that can occur with a rapid change in diet. We recommend portioning 25% of the new food on the first day mixed with 75% of the former food. Over the course of several days, gradually increase this ratio until you are feeding 100% of the new food. This will allow your pet's digestive system time to adjust to any new ingredients and will help to ensure a smooth transition. Mixing up proteins can be a great way to provide variety to your pet's diet. Once your pet has transitioned to the Nulo platform, rotating between recipes is generally seamless!
This product... Smells like cheap kibble (you know that smell, right?), and gave both my dogs hotspots where they wouldn't stop licking and licking within days. It started before they were even fully switched over, and intensified when they were fully on this food. Also made my Yorkie's fur dull and rough and tangly. Giving it two stars because I'm sure it's better than.....something out there. I'll have to donate the rest, and I feel badly even doing that. I'm on disability, and really don't make enough to have to replace this (larger than I usually buy) bag of food. But that's how badly it affected my dogs. I will have to. Weirdly, it also made them poop more frequently, even though I fed them the same amount as their last food. Tells me they're likely not digesting it well.
My 3 Chihuahua mixes love this food. They digest it well and stool consistency is better than with other brand I'd tried. More reasonably priced than many other decent quality, small-kibble dry foods. Going to order a larger bag & rigid container to keep it in here on out.
We prepare/cook our dogs food to insure he is getting all the nutrients he needs. We add 1/4 cup of this dry food to complete his nutritional needs. He eats heartily and healthily.
My Frankie has been on Nulo for a while. He likes the food. But instead of lugging around a bag at a local pet store. I ordered on Chewy. It was perfect!!
THIS IS THE ONLY FOOD HE WILL EAT, BUT, HE IS ONLY 13 POUNDS (SMALL BREED) AND THIS 14 POUND BAG WILL LAST ABOUT A YEAR. SMALL BREED SHOULD BE A CLUE TO CARRY SMALLER BAGS OF THIS FOOD.
I thought I had recently found my baby his permanent kibble. I was sure he loved it. He's a very picky eater and right now, has no interested in any food. He has anxiety about everything which affects his confidence in eating too. So I wanted to try this kibble as a backup since I read that you should alternate. Maybe I did this too soon. My fault. He didn't like it at all, meaning he sniffed and that was enough for him to say No Thanks. I addition to the kibble I thought he loved, I know have this bag. Both bags are going to a shelter but I'm disappointed because although he's not wasting away yet, I fear he will soon. I've recently found a vet and I pray they can help Maxx. The thought of rehoming him (I love him so much) has come up but I want to try everything I within my power before I decide to go that route. I can't recommend this because Maxx simply didn't give it a chance. Maybe the smell but I don't know for sure.
My dog has always been a very picky eater but it’s so surprising that he loves this dry food. He even wants to have it during snack time. Yum yum lol.
I've never been so stressed out in my life before. I had been slowly transitioning my dog to Nulo (50% old food, 50% Nulo) over the course of a few weeks with no problems, but as soon as I started feeding him ONLY this, he began having awful diarrhea. He went to the bathroom so much he started pooping blood. BLOOD. I never guessed it was the food because I had already been feeding him Nulo for a few weeks, but the diarrhea began the day after I bought a brand new bag and started feeding him solely Nulo. His vet also suspected it was the food, so I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or something, but I just ended up throwing the entire bag away. I'm never purchasing from this brand ever again.
We were looking for a small breed food and this seems to fit the bill! Our pup loves it!
We gave a sample of this salmon to our dog, and he loved it, so we ordered a large bag of it. He really enjoyed it, much more so than the other Nulo flavors that we've fed him. However, his body did NOT like it AT ALL. Ever since we started giving this to him, he'd has terrible diarrhea -- and uncontrollable at that -- with runny poop all over the house! No, I cannot recommend this stuff. BEWARE!
