Feeding Instructions

Every dog is a little different, so the ideal feeding amount may vary with age, size, and activity level. Please use the information below as a starting guideline only and adjust as required. Ask your veterinarian if you're unsure. Always provide plenty of clean, fresh water and hugs.

Weight Serving Size
Up to 15 lb 1 cup
16 - 25 lb 1-1 1/2 cups
26 - 40 lb 1 1/2 - 2 cups
41 - 60 lb 2 -2 1/2 cups
61 - 80 lb 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 cups

Over 100 lb 3 3/4 cups + 1/2 cup for each additional 20 lb
Transition Instructions

When first introducing your pet to Nulo, we recommend slowly transitioning over the course of 5 to 7 days to reduce the risk of digestive upset that can occur with a rapid change in diet. We recommend portioning 25% of the new food on the first day mixed with 75% of the former food. Over the course of several days, gradually increase this ratio until you are feeding 100% of the new food. This will allow your pet's digestive system time to adjust to any new ingredients and will help to ensure a smooth transition. Mixing up proteins can be a great way to provide variety to your pet's diet. Once your pet has transitioned to the Nulo platform, rotating between recipes is generally seamless!

My dog suddenly developed skin issues after I switched to this

By SueL on May 1, 2021

I am half-way into the first pack, and have just gotten my 2nd autoship delivered. Unfortunately, one of my dogs developed severe skin problems and this is the ONLY thing that has changed for him in the past few months. The vet suspects that the grain in this kibble might be the problem. (The other dog does not accept kibble so he does not eat this.) Alas, I cannot feed him this brand anymore.

    not the best

    By bns7 on Nov 27, 2020

I will say my dog (a lab) does like this food, however since changing to it, back in October, his coat as gotten very corse and he is shedding horribly. My floors are covered in hair!! I have never had these issues before. He has always had a very soft sleek coat with some shedding. But now it’s falling out like crazy! I can literally pull out dozens of tuffs and I have never seen it look so dull. I switched back to my other food in hopes his coat will go back to how it used to be.

    Must taste good

    By 2dogs on Dec 4, 2020

It has been difficult finding kibble that my dogs like but this is it. They used to just pick at their food now they usually eat it in one setting.

    Healthy ingredients

By Char on Nov 12, 2020

I’m done with no-grain dog foods. Our vets suggested feeding our dog appropriate grains and clean ingredients. Our 4 dogs love it. We mix in quality wet food.

    Great food but picky girls!

By Patti on Aug 20, 2020

I have had 4 Cavaliers in my lifetime. All have had Nulo. This time, these two girls are being raised on a combination of Nulo and Healthy Extensions. I think the kibble size of the Nulo is what has them a bit particular. It’s not the quality or the taste. These two girls, especially my ruby have tiny teeth!! They are my loves!

    It's a winner

    By CMKing on Aug 2, 2020 top500Contributor

It's hard to find a quality dog food with grain, plus this food has Taurine that helps the heart. Also no potato, peas etc. things Callie is allergic to. Callie loves it and eats it without being mixed with wet foods. I even use it for her search games. So far she goes after it. I tried the 11lb just in case she didn't like it. Now I'm ordering the larger size. It's a winner for her.

    All around great

By Kota on Jun 26, 2020

As an am-staff, Dakota doesn't have a lot of fur and requires a high amount of protein to support healthy muscle growth/maintenance. He loves the Nulo food and we've noticed his fur has gotten a lot softer as well. We've tried a couple of different, high quality brands (like blue buffalo and Performatrin Ultra) and this by far is the best for him. Also love the fact that it's grain-inclusive, American-made and sustainably sourced. Totally recommend to any pittie owners out there!!!
