Questions & Answers

14 Customer Questions

Is the trout farm raised or wild caught?

Answer by ChewySep 28, 2022
Nulo works tirelessly to source their ingredients through a network of reputable suppliers who take great care in raising or harvesting animals humanely and safely. The chicken, turkey, and duck are raised free to roam about climate-controlled facilities that are designed to keep the birds comfortable and to protect them from predators, disease, and inclement weather. Lamb from Australia and New Zealand is raised on pastures and the fish is wild-caught, with the exception of the Trout, which is farm-raised in freshwater raceways and ponds. Trout raised this way is considered a “Best Choice” by the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch program as many wild trout populations have become endangered. Additionally, the tuna is certified dolphin-safe by standards set by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Kibble size?

Answer by ChewyJul 18, 2022
This kibble is triangular in shape and measures approximately 3/8 inch wide.

How much protein comes from meat?

Answer by ChewyAug 28, 2020
For Nulo Frontrunner formulas, 77% of the protein comes from animal sources (meat).

Is the Trout in this recipe the source of the Omega 3?

Answer by ChewyAug 18, 2020
This particular recipe has 1.26% Omega 3's on an as-fed basis and it is sourced from the Trout and Flaxseed.

Years ago we used this food & seemed ok. Cannot recall why we switched so tried again (just for a change of diet for the dogs). Slow transition has not gone well for either of our 2 labs. As labs they like all food, but not agreeing digestively with either. Switching back to previous brand.

I tend to switch around my dogs' food a lot, but the Nulo Frontrunner line has been a big hit with my two (very picky) doodles for almost a year now. I've gotten most of the flavors in this line, and my dogs have happily cleaned their bowls out each time. A couple years ago I used to feed the Nulo grain-free line, which my dogs also really liked, so I think that says a lot about the company and quality itself. The kibble always seems fresh in the bag too. To compare: I've done Zignature, Taste of the Wild, and Purina Pro, but my dogs would annoyingly refuse all these kibbles after a 1-2 bags.

Great food!

She loves it and her coat looks great. Stools are super consistent and there is a cool backstory about the guy who started this company.

Correct mixture.

Price still high, bag size on the good foods seem to keep shrinking.
